I totally get alcantara vs. leather is just a preference, but having raced karts and cars on and off for most of my life I equate alcantara to a race car. Almost every racing car I’ve driven had some version of an alcantara steering wheel.

Makes driving my 911 that much more awesome.

It's based on usage. I daily my Touring so I find myself cleaning the wheel and shifter every month or so, certainly not every time I detail the exterior. If you don't daily your car you can easily get away with 3-4 times a year (assuming your hands aren't dirty when you drive your car). It takes me 10-15 minutes total to clean both, it's not time consuming if it's a maintenance cleaning/conditioning. If your wheel is in bad shape and requires more of a restoration cleaning, that can take about 30-45 minutes or so.

I do not use the sanding pad because my alcantara never gets back enough to require it, but if yours is very matted/oily, it will certainly help. I would use a soft brush first before trying the pad. Alcantara is much more durable than it feels so don't be afraid to agitate the material with the right chemicals/cleaning tools. Always start softer (cloth, then brush, then pad) then work your way up

Lol I'm outside of Houston. I would use a steam cleaner, then cleaning chemical, then a brush to agitate, then steam clean, then compressed air

Similar to this process I do after track days before applying chemicals

Just got a lead on a 3RS PTS allocation, September/October delivery. Can be sold to anyone in any state except Montana. Dealer is based in California, $140k ADM.

Why are they discriminating against Montana?

I don’t know if it’s a PCNA rule or what, but that’s what he told me.

There is no “PTS allocation” and there is certainly no September/October allocation yet. They will be released in April. PTS is all done for 2024 model year and there is very little chance the remaining 3 months of calendar year 2024 (model year 2025) will get any PTS. Dealers either dont understand it properly or want to mislead public.

Or it’s an allocation that was approved for pts and was scheduled for build late summer with delivery in the fall? But haven’t heard of any pts guaranteed allocations.

Cool. Maybe he’s lying. Dude sells like 18 Porsches a month, probably doesn’t know anything.

There is one thing I’ve learned from this site, no one knows anything definitively. Remember when @C.J. Ichiban said 992 GT3 allocations we’re done, and they kept on coming?

It doesnt work that way. PAG approves PTS way later in the process. For a September build, that would be known around July. Its a sales tactic to trick and uninformed person to pay $140k. The only truth to it is that it “could” be a PTS and thats because no one has been told “no” yet for MY25. I am staring at an email that directly came from PAG and now fully understand the process.

There will also be another price hike with MY25.

What do you mean a sales tactic to trick? I know you guys are rich, but you pay your ADMs before the car is delivered?

Let me clarify. By stating “PTS allocation”, the salesman makes it more appealing. An uninformed person might agree to pay the big adm thinking he is getting a more unique build. PAG hasnt approved any GT3RS PTS builds yet because allocations havent been opened yet. Dealers have been communicated how many each are getting (I believe 1 per month for last 4 months). But these allocations havent been activated.

The dealers have no PTS allocations for any Porsche products. The process does not work that way.

1. You get an allocation
2. Submit a build with a PTS color
3. Your build sits in V110 status for weeks
4. If PAG can accommodate your PTS request depending on how many slots they have available plus/minus 1 month of your target build month, they approve it. If they dont approve it, car sits there and waits until it gets too close to the freeze day at which point you are forced to choose a standard color

So a dealer can technically say “I have an October allocation for a GT3RS that is PTS eligible”. This is correct. But its like saying, I have a lottery ticket thats eligible to win. Its not a guarantee at all.

And there is a problem child in town of PTS. Its called S/T. Its taking up every PTS slot. And then there is a second problem child in town of PTS. That ones name is 992.2 facelift. That one will take priority in the plant as Porsche will want to build more of their newer car. MY25 GT3RS is expected to be a very small run.

It was a PTS build slot approved at the end of 2023. The original client backed out yesterday, June build.
