Hardcore enthusiasts who have been interested in a specific model for over a year are thirsty for information? No way!

I'm sure it'll be epic just like the 992 GT3/Touring, GT4RS, and GT3RS.

lightest 911 since years (since/ incl. 991)

my 992RS with PCCB Bose Lift normal rims wihtout WP
weights 1.435kg on the scale
empty tank but ready to drive.

Minus:
-rear wing
-Carbon cage
-even lighter rims
-stick shift instead PDK
-single mass flywheel
-lighter rims

i think 1.350kg / 2.990lbs ready to drive is absolutly realistic for the ST. combined with a mega design in- and outside 🥰 it will be mega! 🤩🤩

2nd Aug the ST will be online i guess.
Would that make it the lightest GT car ever? I’m guessing maybe the 996RS is the current champ (1360kg or 2998 pounds)…

Not excited about no rear wheel steer or single mass flywheel. The dual mass in Touring is so light already I don’t see any advantage of going single mass. It’s just going chatter at idle like in the R. More annoying if using for DD duty

How much weight does RWS actually add? It makes such a difference in performance I think it would outweigh the ~50-75lbs it adds if on a circuit.

Classic Porsche example of removing content and charging twice as much! Saving 100lbs for an extra $100k doesn't excite me at all. Enough with the grossly overpriced limited editions. Make a GT3 for the masses

starting to sound like the touring will be the better performer, and the ST will more about the ‘feels’

Likely ceramic brakes as standard.

The ST (like the R before it) is specifically built for driving pleasure on the road (not circuit). The R did have RAS, so this is one way to beat its weight.

Wow, the RS is light. If I can get it under 1400kg with WP and every lightweight option, it would be amazing.

It would seem so, and that is fine with me. The feels matter more to me than the lap times. I'd want a car with a big wing if lap times mattered more than driving feel. 3RS is on the way for that.

Understood, so is the Touring. And I love tracking both the R and the Touring. I can feel the benefits of RWS during every day spirited driving in the Touring though and will miss it if the ST doesn't have it. But I'm sure it will make up for it in other capacities.

The Touring is only built to focus on road pleasure to the extent that it has had its track performance dialed back - they haven't done anything to improve its road manners (which have actually been made slightly worse at high speed on roads). Since you have an R, you're familiar with a car that has had meaningful changes made in this vein (mostly to suspension tuning and weight savings) - expect same from ST, but maybe a bit further it that direction.

Having said that, I have driven a Touring at Spa Francorchamps and it was still lots of fun.

I've had a couple cars with RAS, but I haven't really been able to identify what it's doing (aside from having a tiny turning radius at parking speeds). I'm sure it's doing good work, but without comparing it against the same car without RAS, it's only a guess...
