While I’m not sure the exact model that’s on the 992 GT3, I can say that the Goodyear Eagle F1 3R’s are excellent track tires. I have them on my 720s for track days and they are great. In fact I got the recommendation from a ‘very’ serious group of McLaren guys who typically run at Laguna Seca. Senna’s, 765LT’s, 720s etc. Some of the fastest lap times ever recorded at Laguna were set on Goodyear’s. 1:27.xx etc...I’m sure they’ll be fine in the GT3 as well.
"This might not be your car . I got a photo of mine with Michelin cup 2, but all previous cars coming to Canada were on Goodyear. One fellow got a picture of “ his car” and it was missing some trim. Who knows."
I have been running the Goodyears on the Track and have no issues. I am down to the wear bars after yesterday track time. I have a new set in the garage so I will be using the Goodyears with a different track setup.
As noted above, I wonder how the GY supercar R (the oem tire) compares to the goodyear F1 3r. I've been very impressed with the latter on a gt4. More grippy than cup2 or re71r, but they take 2-3 laps to warm up and grip.
Tiny update: Goodyear has sent “body” bags for all four tires - they will have them soon to analyze what happened. I also found more data in the Porsche track app, but haven’t been able to export it as the updated app keeps crashing. The data did show a slow leak developing well before the blowout.
I’ll update people with whatever they tell me happened.
Therefore a new free set of tires will be heading your way (unless they play - the tires were under inflated and subject to excessive lateral g whilst under inflated "card")
So, via the USAA website there is a link to purchase tires, etc at a discount. However, the GY SSR tires aren't available via ordering online - not sure why. The process then, from what I was told, is to purchase them from a GY store, get the receipt, and then submit a request for the discount. I spoke to the rep on the phone a few weeks ago. It adds a little complication to the process, but I will likely do it soon. Then take your tires to your installer - or have an installer show up at your house, etc. and install them.
The GYs are a few pennies cheaper than Cup 2s. If you don't change tires often, the hassle may not be worth it. From June to Oct, I think I bought 3 or 4 sets. So, this is like two free sets a year.
Were you able to order them via this link?
It looks like these tires are still not available for the 25% discount via online:
Appears the USAA platform is akin to Tire Rack, so search separately. USAA auto-populates the make/model based upon its cars stored in your insurance portfolio and sends to the external Good Year Site producing your result.
When I figured that out the 25% discount was auto-applied, and have found the 305/30/20 avail with $185.00 discount. It will make you purchase set of four, so go into your cart and change.
Now the equation is to figure out how to get the 245/35/20 which I know are avail on Tire Rack. A phone call should clarify as I believe the platform cannot distinguish between non-square setups . MTF......

So TYD actually provided me with a high res photo of the new beast - cool. But seeing Goodyear tires on it...odd. Which of you all have these on your 992 GT3 or other car, and what are your experiences with these tires so far? I already Googled the online reviews, so looking for your own experiences. Thanks!
!
I had cup 2 on mine, after a few track days I switched over to Goodyears. I found them more compliant and comfortable on street driving and so far so good on track. I think I’ll stick to Goodyears. The cup 2 just deteriorated so fast.
I wanted to not like the Good Years, I love Cup 2, but the Good Years are really impressive. I wished they had a more square and prettier side wall, but that aside, it’s a heck of a tire.
We've run the OEM Goodyears and the Dunlops (in 991RS sizes) on our 992 and the Goodyear is noticeably faster. Very happy with the track performance on these.
