Seattle ADM latest
Spoke to my guy @ Porsche Bellevue this weekend. They are still asking $100k ADM but he made an interesting point, almost a throwaway "it's the flippers, ruining it for everyone."
I had wondered about that dynamic. People buy to flip, and make a quick easy $10k. The dealers see this. Why would they charge $10k less? So they whack on $10k. Flippers have to stay ahead of the curve. So they crank up to $20k. And we're off to the races. Before we know it we're at $100k

I for one want nothing to do with such unnatural inflation of the market (you could argue it's natural but the "ticket" touts add no value IMHO). I plan on exercising patience to see what if any market corrections manifest in the coming weeks. BaT is already softening.
Once the runaway $ arms race begins I can't blame people for being attracted to flipping for the easy money. I'd be tempted. But the fact of the matter remains. It's scalping plain and simple. If I were the manufacturer I'd be frustrated that my brand ambassador-grade customers were missing out on products. I'd also see what some were prepared to pay and increase my prices, which is another concern I currently have, BTW. Before we know what has happened Porsche will be like Ferrari. Only in reach for the IRL wall poster crowd and not the driving crowd. The ring times will become increasingly pointless and driving enthusiasts will be forced to look elsewhere.

That’s rich a dealership blaming “flippers”. That’s just a way for them to justify their own ADM. The fact is it simply boils down to supply and demand (we can spend hours debating which right now has the bigger impact) but the point mainly is this - if there were millions of flippers then simply the price would come down because supply would outweigh demand. It’s not just the flippers that drive the price - it’s all of us that want these cars, it’s Porsche not producing enough for whatever reason(s), it’s dealerships taking deposits left and right and giving customers false hope they will get a car in the next 6 to 12 months, it’s dealerships also playing the ADM game, it’s excess cash in the system, it’s low rates, etc etc.
Hate to tell you though - if you expect this to all go away in “weeks” you are very likely to be sorely disappointed.

This is obviously a supply and demand issue. Dont blame flippers. Dont blame dealers charging adm. Same thing is steel rolex game. Limited supply and increased demand. If porsche jacks up base gt3 msrp to 300k, I can gaurentee you that there wont be any adm game going on.
Or, maybe sell at msrp to customers with a legally binding contract that the car can only be sold back to the dealership at certain percentage of price (depending on mileage). That will solve problem. Enthusiast (whatever that means these days) cant expect to get cars at msrp and expect to flip the car at profit later on. Or if they pump out gt3 like toyota camry, we wont see any adm nonsense.

I actually offered to do this at one of my local dealers. Sign an agreement that if I buy at MSRP, I will sell only back to them. Not sure how it's enforced, but they're in the middle of a supremo money grab and it simply fell on deaf ears.
I'm liking McLaren more and more. I'm serious.
