The fake mesh pattern is the most insulting part of it, at least just make it smooth plastic.

I know it's not a direct comparison because the cup cars are highly modified, but at around 18 minutes into the video below, it shows the rear vents on the 992 GT3 Cup to be real and highly functional.

It's not something that will affect your enjoyment of the vehicle from the driver's seat. And clearly the car doesn't need the vents from a performance perspective. But it is disappointing to see fake vents on a GT3, when the new car is supposed to be closer to motorsport than ever, the Cup has functional vents, the old GT3 road cars had functional vents, and Porsche said they'd never put fake vents on their cars.

That's not been the case with the 991.2 GT cars up until the end of their production, so I doubt that. And this on the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series wouldn't fly if that were the case.

Interesting, isn’t the front functional screen made of metal?

Also, the car reviewed is a European build. If the plastic is a euro issue, perhaps the US model will be metal?? idk.

The 991 “real vent” sits right against the heat shield frame in the circled area. Not exactly functional.

Recall something about flappy paddles, grandmas and GT cars.

But I could be wrong.

At worst case it lets heat out from underneath the car. That might be a small boost but at this price I’m sorry that is ridiculous. There should be nothing fake on these cars by this point of the game.

This is such a small detail that shouldn’t effect my feelings for such an incredible car... yet I have to admit. It’s a turn off lol

Even my C2S has fully functional vents for the engine. Why couldn’t they do that for the GT3? Or at least use it to relieve pressure in the wheel well? Better yet - close it off completely so it doesn’t have a fake looking opening!? 🤦🏼‍♂️

Maybe it’ll be a CXX option to make vents real

What bothers me is that the fake vent sort of "starts off" the huge Homer upper lip going backwards and around the rear. Without the fake vent, the whole rear end could've been made a lot tighter, perhaps?

And to think, I ripped Audi to the moon for all those fake vents on the R8 redesign

This is like finding out that Shoeless Joe Jackson threw the World Series for some money

I so agree!
This is a disaster!
I'm not sure I will make it through the weekend!
Not sure I will get over this panel on my soon to arrive car.
It overshadows all other things on my mind right now - from Covid to world peace and stuff like that....

Grow up and go find some real problems! It is an effing plastic cover on a car and everyone from here to the end of the world are using them. You can also be happy that this is an opportunity for you to modify your car with an aftermarket part if this is such a life or death situation for you.

Some of these discussions are worse than the "House wife of this and the house wife's of that". Sounds like a bunch of whining kids.

And, yes - the Yacht is real! Perhaps that is what it took - to see it on something more impressive than a VW...

I like the statement " Shut up and drive" and think a lot of people here should apply that before offering their opinions.

So why aren't you all ripping the 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 RS because the vents in rear bumper are also fake as shown in the photo above. All seems like "fake" rage to me.
