North American configurator on March 31st?
#63
I didn't learn much from the press release or the configurator with the exception of pricing. Like most of us, we have been active on here and the European configurator. However, I have a question regarding the press release and a bit embarrassed to ask since it is so trivial for a GT car........but.
Look at the highlighted potion below from the press release........ Do we have to have a subscription to use Apple Carplay after 3 years?
While we are at it, where is the center mark option for the steering wheel? Or the leather center console lid? (I hate the 1970s suede) Late adds maybe?
The updated system will also mark an extension of the trial period for connected services to three years, expanding on the current one-year period. Following the initial trial, the services are subscription based. These will include Porsche Connect for three years. Porsche Connect encompasses a range of useful, convenient services and features – they include Voice Pilot with natural language understanding activated using “Hey Porsche,” Navigation Plus including real time traffic information and online map updates, Calendar, and Radio Plus. Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay continue to be included and will be rolled into the trial period. For the first time in a new Porsche vehicle, Android Auto™ will also now be available. Additionally, SiriusXM® with 360L will come as standard with a 3-month trial subscription, expanding the range of available channels. As with the Taycan, the new PCM also adds direct integration of Apple Music® and Apple Podcasts®, subject to a separate subscription with Apple.

I'm surprised everyone is surprised by the 15-20% price increase since 4 years ago with the 991.2. Everything around us (especially housing) has went up more than that. All the ADM talk around here doesn' thelp either. My build is $196-200k. July build slot that they want the info on now. August build slot if I want PTS which I'm not going to do since I will trade this car for the RS in 18 months when they come out.

2019 CPI +2.3%
2020 CPI +1.4%
GT3 +12% over less than three years.
I'm not knocking Porsche for raising the price this high though. I believe in the free market system and clearly demand is outstripping supply for the time being. I wonder though if demand at that price point will be sustained as the hype dies down and ADMs go away.

That is just not true. Everything around us did not increase that much. The better indication is the consumer price index. (CPI)

If all the 992 GT3 can sell at this price + ADM, 992.2 GT3 would be interesting.

Go to the grocery store and tell me again that prices only rose that little. And I mean real prices: same package but less in it for same or higher price.

I get $184K in USA for PDK/FAL no buckets.. and I look around and all of the sudden USED 991.2 low mileage are ASKING about the same price for a 4 year older car...
so even if you try to wait 3-4 years.. probably not gonna be any cheaper for 992.1 GRT3.. and it wont be exactly the way you want it configured.. hmmm

I don't need to go to the grocery store. The Department of Labor does it for me (us) every month for 80,000 items across the entire spectrum of the economy (not just the few that are getting your attention at the grocery store). The information is accurate.

Did anyone notice that the Car & Driver article said "There will be a wingless GT3 Touring variant available down the line, which should only be a few thousand dollars more". Love it! Less parts and more $.
The big question is can the ADM really be sustained on a $210K+ car with tax, ppf, etc.?

In fairness I think most of that is the leather interior (dashboard, door cards, rear sides) which you don't get in the base leather/race-tex. The package has a confusing name... should be leather dash/interior + deviated stitching.
