Yes, I signed an agreement to forfeit the deposit if I walked away. I was just wonder if that was typical as it regards the members here. That said, I didn't have time to check when I got the call for the allocation and I figured losing 3k is better than over spending by 22k or would be if I walked away.
I imagine they would apply to another car if I asked.

In CA, no that’s illegal as a matter of state law. Deposits are refundable. Sometimes dealers try to claim otherwise to pull one over on buyers who don’t know that, but in my experience they get refunded no questions asked pretty easily. Of course if you screw the dealer over with some ugly monstrosity after lock, they might decide not to do business with you again ….
Also, everything is a negotiation. Dealer might be willing to refund you anyway, or partially refund you to a lower adm slot on the list. It’s not like they will have trouble selling this.

a lot of folks are on multiple lists, so this isn’t entirely crazy. It just means that Newport doesn’t need 20 allocations to fill this demand. They might only need 5 to burn through this list.

But then I heard some dealers only get 2 allocations for the entire production cycle. Would be awesome to get a sense of this number from someone in the know.

Guys, the market is the market. If Porsche decides to UNDER price their cars making the ADM market viable that is their call. Ferrari raised prices on the Pista to the point that the ADM was out of the market within 6 months or less. A new Pista with low options was easy $100k more than what the Speciale was new. Even adjusted for inflation that was a HUGE increase in price. For maybe 6 months Pistas sold for 100-150k over MSRP and then the market caught up. And what is happening, ADM on Pistas is gone. The cars quickly settled to the point where they are selling near MSRP. Do you want Porsche to do the same thing? Do you want Porsche to raise the prices by 25-50k to absorb what would have been ADM? I don't. Porsche is going to do the smart thing and INcreasing production. Ferrari increased prices AND production. Early owners of GT3'S who want to flip will make a quick buck. Keep in mind, many of those early owners paid the price for their right to have an early car. VIP clients have to keep buying to stay VIP. Not all the cars they buy are money makes. I AM paying an ADM and could care less. If all goes to plan I will have the car this year mid-summer. Given the present market conditions, I could keep the car for 12+ months and come close to breaking even. If I lose money, fine. Perfect. Guys, you only live once and you are dead for a real long time. Make the most of it.

Nice rant but not all accurate. VIPs DO NOT need to keep buying to remain VIPs. They are offered the GT car at MSRP and they can decline with no issues and wait for the next one.

I tried asking this question too but haven't found an answer. I did talk to someone at Gold Coast Porsche and they mentioned that they were estimating they were going to get 40 cars in a 2 year production cycle. 20 this year, 20 next year. Thought that sounded like a lot.
But then I heard some dealers only get 2 allocations for the entire production cycle. Would be awesome to get a sense of this number from someone in the know.

FWIW, I'm paying 30K ADM. It is what the market is for me. I tried to get MSRP - contacted 40+ dealers. For many very legitimate reasons, they aren't offering me MSRP. It is what it is. I want to spec a GT3 my way and this is the price for me to get what I want. I purchased a Taycan Turbo and Cayenne GTS in the past 6 months. The best my dealership would do is match the ADM with a late Jan delivery. I get people don't want to pay the extra, but that begs why are you willing to pay the MSRP just because it's on the sticker? Why are you not demanding 5% off MSRP? Why do you believe the MSRP is the magic price that you should pay? In the end, the market determines the price. That's how most of us make our money too.
If you are able to get MSRP, I think that is great! I wish I was able too. I don't get the hate some people have for others that pay want they do to get the car they want.
If you are upset that others have money to pay to get a car you want and it causes the market price to go up beyond a point where you are willing to pay, I get that too.
