992 GT3

I don't think so. They make a pretty big effort with great drivers, tire warmers, closed track, etc. It would be hard for someone else to match that effort (or even have a reason to try)...

Chris Gebhardt did a 7:05.41 ~ 10s slower than Estre (and CB is a regular at the ADAC 24hr Rennen).

A good friend of mine at the Ring said a few weeks back as he works for another manufacturer, they had the mule 992 RS out he was sure of. He said they were lifting in so many places so not to do any straight line speed runs as it was the first time he had seen it.
His thoughts were the new RS will be quicker than the 2RS times when they eventually come to run it.
Not sure if his account is accurate as I said he could have been confused with a 992 GT3, but he said the RS was all camo'd up with much bigger wings and side intakes which differentiates been the usual GT3.

I think that makes sense - the official time for the current 3RS is not that much slower than for the current 2RS - I could see the 992.1 3RS leapfrogging the 991.2 2RS (just as I think it's possible for the 992.1 GT3 to beat the current 3RS on equal tires - though they may not be made in correct sizes to try). Even without R tires, the next GT3 is going to be very fast (possibly under 7 min).

I can see the fascination with ring times when you're selecting a base car to modify for further competition e.g. buy the best base car for your needs - however, I would note the 991 series GT cars with the exception of the .2 RS needed a lot of work to make them any good.

I personally am interested in Ring and other track time comparisons as I track all my cars, however now using slicks makes me smile even further knowing I have something even quicker than on R tires. Only the driver is the slower component in my situation.
