Considering buying high milleage 991S, need advice on the price
#31
Just drove my approaching 80k 991 from CA to WA and back. I didn't worry about any mechanical issues because I knew there would be none. There weren't. I was slightly worried about seagull poop parking outside in a seaside town for a week. Didn't get any, but picked up many dead bugs on the front.

Hoping to revive this thread.
I was also considering a higher mileage 2012 911 S with 60K miles (approximately $115K build with pdk, sport chrono, and some other goodies). Dealer was asking $59K and pretty sure they got it (car sold before I could place my offer, but sales person shared that much with me).
How's everyone feeling about this now. How much would you pay for 991.1 (12/13) with 60K miles and how much with 80K miles.
60K - $57K
80K - $52K

Maintenance and Car is more important then miles in my book. I'm on my 5th Porsche, they're pretty sturdy cars. My first one I drove to 232,000 miles and that car owed me nothing.

So after starting this thread i ended up buying 997.2 4s with 66k miles and in about 10 months ive put 8k miles on it already sitting at 74k. Car drives like new and dont be afraid to buy a higher mileage, but like other have said make sure the car was taken care of!. Good luck with your search you will not be disappointed once you find the one.

I just picked up a 13 C4S with 17k miles for $79k. Perfect maintenance history and history in general. Car is mint, $133k original sticker, full XPEL, paint is perfect underneath. Plus a 4YR/48K platinum bumper to bumper warranty for peace of mind. The fact Porsche (and the industry in general) have stopped making NA motors/flat 6's (sans the GT3) I would of been willing to pay up to $90k for my car, since it was so clean and in the colors I wanted. NA Flat 6's are a dying breed. Worth every red cent.

Thinking a nice DD for 3-5 years where I put on 10-12k a year, so "perfect condition" is not needed.

I bought a 138K msrp .1S with 50k miles specifically so I can drive it and not have a garage queen. I enjoy driving the car more than staring at it. A car with a solid history that shows its been loved and cared for it always a go in my book

Rebooting this thread because I'm considering jumping into a higher mileage (50-70k) nicely spec'd one myself this winter and am curious what you guys think a year later a car like above would be going for? I'm talking 991s with 50-70k and original stickers in the 120-130k range.

Let me know your thoughts on my math.

911mhawk...value year from now would be a guess, but my research points to around 6-8% depreciation yearly after following HFS and the market for the last 12 months. The only higher mileage car I saw for sale was one with 80k miles which recently sold for $49.5K ($115K build but with 1 accident history). Not sure of the prices you are seeing, however, I would imagine a non-accident (120-130K build) with about 50k miles, will go for around $60-65K.

These cars are out of warranty, an aftermarket one costs about $100/month, and, newer ones with ~30k miles seem more common and are not that much more, especially if one is looking at a payment vs. cash.

Someone earlier said $45-50k. That, lMO, is fantasy-land. I have never seen a 991S that low that is in desirable condition and without a big accident history. After 20,000 miles, figure these cars lose roughly around $3,000 per 10k driven. Find out what a similar build clean 30k mile car sold for private party, and then add $3,000 for every 10k increase in mileage. The depreciation curve really flattens at higher mileage.
A couple others I know of personally that were both private party: 2013 C4S, $135k build with all performance options (PDK) and Aerokit cup: CPO coverage still intact: $67,500 with 54,000 miles. 2012 C2S, $117k build with a couple of clean aftermarket mods (OEM included): manual, 21k miles, for $67,000. Both sales happened within the last 2 months.

911mhawk....Did you purchase from a guy in Washington? If so, beautiful car. I had my eye on it, but just couldn't make the deal work from across the country. Best of luck with the new car.
