Mine has a service interval of 10K miles or 365 days, whatever comes first. The oil change light came on at 6700 miles, 8 months into my ownership. The initial counter probably started when the car was programmed at the port.

Reminder has been coming up for a few days, I'll need to schedule the service.

I thought I was reading something from the '80s.

Thats the dealers trying to line their pockets Now in the case of my wife car I do change it more often as it rarely gets driven more than 3 miles at a time.

It's not 20k between services. Cycle your service reminder and you will see the10k reminder. I went through this same thought process when I checked mine too.......lol.

11k on my 2018 and loving it.

The obvious solution is to drive the car a lot more so you meet both mileage and time intervals... really, how do you only put 4000 miles in a year? My second car actually gets less mileage because I can’t bear to not drive the 911!

Many of us have several vehicles so our miles are spread out among them, and there are many more reasons why someone puts the miles on that they do so stay on topic.
