Default 918 in for 2 year maintenance. Ouch.

Just dropped off the C4S for a "cooling system fault" and on the lift was a 918 in for it's 2 year maintenance and quite a few service bulletins.

The service alone is estimated at $8800 and it's been on the lift for over a month.

Ouch and Ouch.

Let us know which changeover valve your cooling system fault turns out to be!

Mine was the sound symposer.

If the dealer is keeping my car for over a month just for regular maintenance they better offer a deep discount and GT3 as a loaner.

Pretty sure if you had a 918 in for service they would give you about anything you want.

I'll give an update when I pick it up.

The car still drove and sounded like everything was working correctly.

Engine temp was normal, heat worked....... etc....... so we'll see.

The 1st one that went early on in my car's life was for the heat.

Well the 2 valves they replaced were connected to flaps on the air box.

All fixed no more error message.

We must be going through the same progression of changeover valve failures.

My first one was no heat as well, go that fixed few months ago. It's now in for the "cooling system fault", exactly as you described, all temps are normal, car can be pushed no problem.

Let's see if mine is the air box too I guess.

They gave me a manual base 718 Cayman loaner and man is it horrible.

When that error throws, it's usually a changeover valve. There are 8 of them and it could be any number of non-cooling related things.

It's a dumb and misleading error message.

$8800 seems like a minor inconvenience if you can afford a 918. Being without the car for a month on the other hand...

I am assuming here that the dealers have to bring in special techs from Germany or in US who are authorized to work in a car like the 918.

When I started looking, one of the sales guys said there is a color - Liquid Silver - that, should it need to be repainted, the body panel(s) or entire car would have to be shipped back to the factory to be done right! Yikes!!

Quick Reply: 918 in for 2 year maintenance. Ouch.
