Default 991.2 oil change interval

This is my first 911 and I was wondering how often you guys change your oil?

Follow the scheduled maintenance in the owners manual. You'll be fine and will be in good hands.

Some guys choose to do the first oil change early, but you could do a search on those debates on here

That was my plan but wondered what most do? I thought it would be more frequent.

It's a time or mileage interval. Whatever comes first.

How many miles do you plan on driving a year?

I'll search now. I'll put about 20,000 kms/12,000 miles on it annually.

My 991.2 Carrera 2 was delivered last August and I performed my first oil change around 1500 miles and am about to do a second one at 6500. My mechanical sympathy couldn't countenance leaving the original assembly oil in the car for a year or 10,000 miles.

Keep in mind that this procedure would more accurately be described as a partial oil change, as nearly 40 percent of the engine oil doesn't drain when you pull the plug, thanks to the lubrication system's "internal dry sump" design.

There are those who will point out that Porsche engineers took all of these factors into consideration when establishing the car's oil change intervals. They're probably right. But then Porsche engineers also approved the IMS bearings on the 996 engines and the connecting rod bolts on the 991 GT3s.

Don't forget that your first oil change in a 991.2 is provided free of charge. That's new.

First at 1,000 miles. Then, every 5,000 miles. At least yearly for you low mileage guys.
