Default Fister & AWE Exhaust Review for 991 3.4L

Edit 7/19: I added the AWE x-pipe and it sounds amazing but it is loud, especially in the higher RPMs. Fister + AWE is an excellent combo IMO and a much cheaper alternative to anyone considering PSE.

I had a hard time finding any reviews for the Fister exhaust for a 991 so I thought a review might be helpful.

Background: A few weeks ago I took delivery of a 15 CPO 911 3.4L. I really wanted PSE but this car ticked every other box so I pulled the trigger. I was looking for an affordable alternative to PSE (dealer quoted me 4K for the retrofit). After much research on rennlist (predominantly on the 997 boards) I landed on the Fister.

First off Darin is a super nice guy. He's very responsive and about a week after I sent payment the mufflers arrived. He told me if I wasn't happy with the sound I could send them back for a full refund. He said he didn't want me to be stuck with them if I didn't like the sound which I appreciated of course. He also said I could call or text if I needed help with the install which was also much appreciated.

I did the install myself. It only took about an hour and a half. The tone on cold start is great. It's deep and rumbles but not crazy loud. It's docile and very stock like at cruising speed but it really comes alive as the revs climb. And the pops and burbles on decel are much more pronounced. If your looking for an alternative to PSE for the price you can't go wrong with these.

Of course I'm going to pair it with an x pipe now probably awe

Thanks for posting. I had bought a sharwerk x pipe and ended up removing it. Too loud for me. This may be a better option.

Loved them on my 997.2. did not need them for my 991 because it came with factory sports exhaust.

I installed the AWE x-pipe over the weekend and it sounds GLORIOUS especially around 4.5k RPM. It is also a lot louder than I thought it would be but it sounds amazing. The tone is very high pitched and exotic sounding. The fisters + AWE is a great pairing - I am extremely pleased with this combo!

Never heard the AWE x-pipe. I had a sharkwerks bypass and loved that also with the Fisters. Thanks for posing the review.

I probably would have gone with sharkwerks but there're not offering that pipe currently. So I went with awe. Its a high quality product.

I have done the "undo hack" on both my 996 and 997 in the past. Is it the same theory on the 991? Essentially welding a piece between the inlet and outlet?
I haven't seen many threads on the 991 forums regarding this

I can imagine both in unison sound incredible with this motor. I have just the Sharkwerks X Pipe and it sounds amazing paired with the 3.4, especially at around 4.5K RPM’s as you mention.

Thanks for the review! Seems like a sweet alternative to the PSE. Personally I’ve been eyeing the SOUL exhaust for my 3.4
