What do you pay for Insurance
#136
911 and Mazda, in the city, two drivers, WAS under $1,400 a year (cheapest rate I could find, Progressive), now my wife got into a tiny fender bender with her Mazda, insurance covered it without collecting deductible ($2,500 at the time, now moved to $1,000) which was cool, and just sent the renewal bill.... $3,400 for the year! Records clean otherwise.
Not sure what to do, but hoping shopping around will help.

For 14’Turbo S, 15’ Macan S, and a 15’ Jeep Wrangler we pay $300/ month with Geico. Cannot complain, have not been able to get anyone to match with the same level of coverage.

Ask your State Farm Agent for the "Drive Safe and Save" program, if it is a weekend driver it is a great program that works for me. I only pay based on how much I use the car.. They check the odometer every 6 months or so, but works well for all low usage cars I have had.. I just use their app for reporting the mileage takes me only 30 seconds... Hope this helps .
I looked into this once and decided I'd probably end up with higher rates despite the lower miles. From State Farm's own FAQs:
"Location/GPS is used in conjunction with the accelerometer and other sensors to measure speed, turning, braking, acceleration, time of day, and miles driven. The vehicle location obtained from Drive Safe & Save is not used in rating."
It seems they check a lot more than the odometer.

20+ years of State Farm loyalty and ashamed of the rates I am paying for having a perfect driving record (both wife and I).
Luckily, I asked my SA when I picked up my 911 GTS. His referral really turned out sweet.
Found a fellow enthusiast out of Toledo, OH (recommended by my SA at Porsche of Ann Arbor).
Long story short.....I'm paying about $1k per year for the 2018 GTS instead of the $1800.
My overall policy went down 30% w/ 3 cars and home...and I have MUCH better limits and umbrella.

The tough part about insurance is you don't know how good it is until you have to use it. From a few claim experiences I have heard about from Geico, they are not the Porsche of insurance. I've heard great stories about USAA if you qualify for it including my personal experience. Someone bumped my new Cayenne a few years ago with USAA. They were so easy to work with. Just asked me to get a quote and they cut me a check before it was repaired. I've also heard good things about Chubb but their premiums are much higher than average. Maybe invest in BRKB but shop around for higher quality insurance?

I would beg to differ with the comments above on Geico. They have been very responsive on any issues and were quick to deal with any claims without dickering about parts or labor.

I just talked to my State Farm rep yesterday and apparently there is a beacon you put in your car. By signing up for the safe and save program you get a discount on your current premium, and your premium price will never increase based on your driving. However the discount could decrease based on driving. If that makes sense.

I just switched to Geico from Erie.
17 Carrera S, 15 Jag F-Type R, 15 RR Evoque. $2800/yr ($240/month) with 2 comprehensive claims in the past 3 years (previous BMW was hit while parked in my driveway and F-Type was broken into overnight while parked at a friends house).
Erie was $4200/year for all 3 cars.

$3,325 from State Farm for cars listed in my sig line, no kids on policy. $1k deductible, max liab coverage. Probably helps that our commutes are 10 miles per day.
