Ordering a new 911 (paint question)
Ok, so from what I've heard, Porsche can paint special colors for your car for an extra fee.
So does this mean I can make it ANY color I want to? I want a really light lavender color, but I'm not sure to what extent they are willing to allow the customization of your paint selection.

Needs to be one of the pre-approved colors. Cost is $6K+. Your dealer has access to the current paint to sample colors available. Ability to order PTS is limited to certain parts of the production cycle.

would give it a light purple color

If you want a true paint to sample color, there is a testing process Porsche uses to test the feasibility of painting the car that color. Feasibility studies take (I have read) at least 6 months from the time they accept your sample. So figure upwards of a year delay on delivery.
Even if you choose an available PTS color, they don't build PTS cars year round. And they have been known to cancel PTS production in the past even when ordered in the appropriate PTS window.
I ordered my Targa 4S October 14th and then added PTS and LTS. Both were approved but the car is just now being built with delivery scheduled for July. It was to be in Atlanta PEC, but that would have delayed it until mid-late August, so I cancelled that.
Good luck.

Keadog has it right. OP, if you want to know all about PTS, search in the GT3 forum for one of Eduardo's many very informative posts/threads on the subject. But the short answer is no, you can't do what you are describing, i.e., just mix up a new color.

Since dealers (thinking you may renege on the deal) are reluctant to put cars on their lot which are painted colors they consider goofy, be prepared to put up a hefty amount for a down payment and to sign papers guaranteeing you'll drive the thing off their lot.

Even if you could get them to paint it a unique color mix of your own choosing for a price you could afford, I think it would be a terrible choice. Consider the consequences if and when you might need even the slightest bit of work done to the body or paint.

It's not quite that simple. There is a list of pre-approved PTS
colors available through your dealer. If you choose one of those
(and it is approved for your build), expect a delivery delay of 3
months +/-. If you want a true paint to sample color, there is

or your dealer getting someone at Porsche to show you samples.
But they might not be light enough 'Lavender' for your taste!
To see a prior discussion on 'Viola' & other interesting Porsche
historical 'purples', see post #2897 at link below:

that a Porsche dealer will not go forward with a PTS request they
are 'nervous' about. And who can blame them? CA & many other
states have consumer protection laws that allows a customer that
ordered a 'Hot Pink' PTS vehicle NOT take delivery (& get his/her
money back) if they didn't like it in person!
