Asking for discount
Back when I got an early C6 Corvette, the dealer told me they were selling every Corvette at full price and a discount was out of the question. I had done my homework before going and knew that another dealer 70 miles away had practically the same car. So with the salesman sitting there, I called the San Antonio dealer, told him I was at the Austin dealer and wasn't being offered a discount. They offered me a sizable discount to drive on down to buy their's. As I got up to leave dealer 1 to go to dealer 2, the salesman asked if I could wait while he talked with his manager. They both came over and offered to match. I continued to leave... then they offered to undercut dealer 2 by another 2k if I bought from them and agreed to quit calling around for a better deal.
So the no-discount car ended up having a nearly 10% discount. I don't know if this will work in the Porsche world, but I'd sure be willing to give it a try.
We had to do something similar with my wife's Lexus recently. We ended up calling a half dozen other dealers in nearby states to find a deal when the local dealer wasn't interested in seriously trying. Even after buying airline tickers for the two of us and staying in a hotel for one night, we ended up with a net savings of around 4.5k after it was all done and got to enjoy a nice 2 day road trip in the process.
The bottom line is they aren't going to pony up a discount if you just roll over and don't bother to give them a real reason to.

Listen. No discount on a Cayenne is laughable.
Not to mention, the Cayenne isn't even breaking any sales records. There's well over 3,000 of them new listed on cars.com!
I see 2016's on there for $10K off MSRP already marked down. You can even get them lower!

Thank you everyone, that's exactly what I was looking for.
As for posts above about having other cars, our primary is an Escalade ESV and this ride is for my daily driving. I'm just worried as unforeseen events come up where I have to grab 1, 2, or even our miserable canine so practicality is winning over my absolute love of my 911.

I have 3 kids and I got an Audi Q7, and it didn't work. If you think you can get anything but a minivan with 3 kids you are fooling yourself. I was in denial for 5 years. Keep the Porsche for yourself and get a minivan.
Putting 3 kids in a row in an SUV backseat while trying to fit in a car seat is awful, and with the third row up in an SUV luggage space is ridiculous. I got a fully loaded Toyota Sienna with AWD, leather interior, Nav, and rear entertainment system and my kids love it. We can take all five of us with full luggage on trips with no problem.

I got about 7.5% plus 4 yr maintenance plan thrown in on our 2016 Cayenne v6 last year. This was after the Cayenne diesel we custom ordered was claimed by the diesel-gate scandal and left sitting at the port and undeliverable by the dealer. Prior to that we were getting 5% off...so you just gotta ask and be persistent as folks have said as if they are not just gonna give you away what to them is otherwise profit.
