Default Asking for discount

Good morning,

991.1 owner here, and will be using the pull ahead program this fall to move into a Cayenne GTS or Pano ST since the 3rd kiddo has arrived and struck the fatal blow to my 911 ownership for the foreseeable future

With that said, I wanted to know when/how you'd ask for the discount on ordering the new ride. I'm assuming the Pano may not have one due to demand but with the new Cayenne coming in I was hoping to get some percentage off. I asked my local dealer (small one) and they flat out said they don't do discounts, so I'm thinking of going a couple hours out and ordering from one of the larger outfits.

Thanks for the help, and I must say (having been on the Pano and Cayenne forums) this is by far the most active and helpful one (at least based on my perception).

So this dealer only charges MSRP an never a discount?? What dealer?

Cayenne? Yes you can get a discount off MSRP. I'd assume 5-9% from experience depending if in stock or custom order. Always have more leverage with one sitting at a dealer.

Expand your search, I had a similar problem with not getting a discount until we found the 911 in FL and bought it sight unseen. Good luck and consider keeping the 911, the "3rd kiddo" would fit nicely in the frunk!

I can make them "fit" in the Sport Turismo, much like I made 2 "fit" in the 911

haha correct. it's an interesting predicament and I'm in one at times. I really enjoy driving the Cayenne as a loaner. Bullet proof feeling truck that is nimble and great on a highway - for a truck. Pano is a cruiser and a lot more "mature". Macan handles like no SUV should be able to do.

If you like to "drive" then get the Macan. If you want a cruiser or a hauler then the other 2.

Hell - maybe get a CPO Macan AND an older 911.

How old are your other two kids? Do you have another dedicated family hauler (i.e. Minivan)?

I have a Cayenne, can let you know how it's worked for me with two.

All depends on where you are. Here in Houston, dealers do not discount Cayennes.

I have 3 kids and I got an Audi Q7, and it didn't work. If you think you can get anything but a minivan with 3 kids you are fooling yourself. I was in denial for 5 years. Keep the Porsche for yourself and get a minivan.
Putting 3 kids in a row in an SUV backseat while trying to fit in a car seat is awful, and with the third row up in an SUV luggage space is ridiculous. I got a fully loaded Toyota Sienna with AWD, leather interior, Nav, and rear entertainment system and my kids love it. We can take all five of us with full luggage on trips with no problem.

You can get a cayenne discount by going to truecar....its that easy. That's a starting point.

any dealer that says they don't discount is flat out lying.

When to "ask"? I think that's a bad mindset. Work out the fair market discount and then tell the dealer that's what you will pay. Do it up front. That's always been my approach.

Better off putting the wife in there, before he knows it he'll have a 4th if he doesn't.

Dealers not discounting a massed produced vehicle that is in ready abundance all across the US? Go elsewhere, 7-12% depending on if you're ordering or buying off the lot is the market.

My experience on a 991.2 Turbo was no discount at Porsche of Newport Beach, but they offered to put my name on a list in case they got an allocation. Then I went to the Costco car buying service as well as True Car. Soon, I got email offers of between 3% and 5.5% off -- I went with the 5.5% discount. This was about a year ago, when supply was tight -- Ordered in May; delivered in Nov.

Minivan isn't the only option. I've used a Yukon XL Denali quite successfully with our family of five for many years!
