Default My new butt

no more chrome and no more paragraph.

apparently my dealer swears there is no template but did get it very straight. I asked them to center it which they got perfect. Wanted just "911" but the black 911 seemed too small imo. Dealer claims that you cannot order in body color and only way to get a black 911 is to get the guts numbers that are smaller than the sole chrome lettering... mildly frustrating when I read contrary data here.

Is that "911" smaller than the chrome version? Huh? Seems not to be the case.

If you get the "911" from the factory that is centered then it is chrome and slightly bigger. I'm happy and just wanted a simpler @ss. Now I will get a 911 license plate frame to swap with my Porsche one... Likely nobody cares at all about this. But I don't need to say Porsche twice on the back All part of the journey in making my car perfect for me.

Looks nice and clean!

Next time, FYI, show the SA you're no poser and tell him to look-up Work Manual 665055 Replacing Rear Logo. Lists the tools from factory including a template holder as well as all "OE" lettering combinations as interchangeable inserts.

Here's the template holder, which drapes in an exact position over the rear bumper cover on ALL (non-GT3 I think) 991's:

And here is an example of couple of the inserts:

List of each template by official part number:
9867/1 = "Porsche"
9867/2 = "Porsche 911"
9867/3 = "991 Carrera/Carrera S"
9867/4 = "991 Carrera 4/Carrera 4S"
9867/5 = "991 Turbo/Turbo S"
9867/9 = "991 50 Years"
You can order all of these as Porsche factory "Special Tools" from any authorized source. Ain't cheap tho! I priced out the holder and 9867/4 insert and if I recall correctly the holder was like $400 US and the interchangeable insert was another couple hundred... I ultimately didn't order not due to price but because I was told that there was a 5 month backorder on both from Germany (this was at least a year ago, so maybe they've restocked since then). I would imagine many P-car body shops have these tools -- so any dealer who tells you there isn't any such thing is just lazy.

My dealer initially wanted 300$... so I paid 10 buck in product to remove and got away with 75(half hour of labor) which is still excessive with an insert.

They still wanted 300 for an oil change even though I brought my own oil... but after I complained they dropped it to 238. I did like having the annual inspection but won't ever have them change the oil again...

My dealer is on crack with their service pricing 99% of the time. I want to pay a fair price and am not looking for the cheapest from a dealer. Want to have a positive relationship. I did get a Cayenne for the weekend which was great for a 5 hour each way trip we had on the books so consider the price gouging a good trade for the loaner since we got good use of it.... and my first speeding ticket in 10 years...

Got it and wasn't questioning you -- just makes me cringe when I hear that a dealer / SA tells someone that something isn't possible or not available. Price gouging is expected, but misinformation is just irresponsible and ultimately hurts the consumer.

Cheers!

Understood - and we're on the same page when the dealer is either ignorant or lying... either is unacceptable. It really makes me question everything they tell me, hurting my trust in them.

Why do you think the black 911 lettering is smaller than the chrome 911?

I know not directed at me ...

I don't believe that to be the case. Not like the whole GTS Carrera script is any smaller.

911 is the same size

I ordered my Club Coupe with just "911." But, my intention was to swap the "911" for "GTS," which I did (new "GTS" badging from Suncoast).

The 911 badge doesn't seem "smaller" to my eye.
