Quote: It looks like the only drawback on the .2 C2 base is the torque vectoring is not available. Does anyone see a reason to pay another 15k or so to get this?
No.

You also can't get SPASM, RWS, Power kit,

Base is good enough - never thought I will say that
Recent base 991.2 base manual owner from V10 M5 did European delivery and drove in proper fast roads.

Why I bought base: I had a car allowance from work and only a decent equipped car could fit inside the budget, was condiering upgrading my wife's macan for a macan turbo / gts and buy a 991.2S/GTS on my own. Never considered base till I drove it.

I did drive it back to back to against 991.2 S and a used 4S/GTS,

I am very partial to normally aspirated engine of 911. But if you can look past badge (which I am ok to admit I have a hard time) the base is a pretty awesome car. In many ways a better than than the more boosted S.

According to car and driver they tested a base(PDK) as faster than a 991.1 GTS http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ra-test-review

After two weeks of driving autobahn, Austrian alps and Black Forest roads I can say I am mighty impressed. Yes S is faster and GTS will be awesome but the base 991.2 is so much better than 991.1 S / GTS in power delivery everywhere except for the normally aspirated noise.

If buying new: get the base S well equipped

I will test drive a base manual tomorrow. Funny, Road and Track said the new base model with a manual transmission did 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, with the Car and Driver results on the base it makes me think they are underrating the base model on purpose (since they both use 3.0 liter motors). So, it looks like the major thing missing on the base (at 15k less) is torque vectoring and 20" wheels.

The Car and Driver and Road & Track performance measurements are very similar when both cars are equipped with the manual transmission.

With the PDK and Sport Chrono, you get launch control, which gets the car off the line much harder. That's where the big performance difference comes from in the second Car and Driver test..

Quote: Just looked at a manual base model with about 12k in options (Premium package plus, 14 way seats, sunroof, bose, lane change, Carrera Sport wheels). All I care about is having 20" wheels and a manual transmission, possibly a $720 paint option.

All of this adds about 12k to the base price.

I want to buy a used .1 S but everything is way overpriced (I have to have a manual transmission).

Does anyone here have a very base .2 and are they happy (any regrets)?

Any suggestions as to how to buy a .2 for around $90k?

Thanks,

David

Mine has 20", dimming mirrors, PSE and MT and I love it. Ive since added Cf interior, HRE wheels etc etc. but I love this car. Next time I might add Bose but not sure what else.........
I'm with you, Had to be manual. Wouldnt even consider PDK. As for Launch control.....not sure when it would ever get used.

For me the base model seems well balanced and a perfect amount of useable power. Love my C2 base. Here we are in the Virginia countryside yesterday.

Backroads near Middleburg.

Good point, it's a C2. There is nothing basic about it.

PTV also comes with the LSD so isn't that useful in snow etc? It's available on the C4 as an option.

Not the smartest thing I did today, but I pulled the trigger. They just got in Friday and I bought it today.

Base model, manual. Paid $95k on a $105k sticker.

It's as quick as my 2013S, driving and handling is much improved, easier to shift and still thrilling but more refined

I like those wheels too, the only thing I don't like are the oval exhaust tips.
