Daily vs non-daily 911's
#31
I daily mine. Have had it since February 2016 and it just turned 15k miles. I also have a 2013 Raptor and a 2012 Boss 302 and the wife usually takes the Raptor. Boss is too much of a handful to daily.
Yesterday I managed to get my 6 day old son in the back of the C4S in his rear facing seat. Granted nobody would be able to sit in the front seat but still-- family driving done right!

Fair point. For some yes. For me no.....and I know that I will be in the minority in a 911 forum. To me, the engine belongs in the middle of the car like the 919, Carrera GT, 918, F1 cars, Mclarens, R8, NSX etc. Mid-engine cars have the Physics advantage and that is why Porsche is planning to develop a 911RSR mid-engine car. (they did with the GT1 in 1998 which was the last 911 to win Le Mans).
We all have our version of what a sports car is all about. For me, It's a manual, 2 seater, mid-engine, convertible and red (the fastest color). It's a roadster and it shouldn't be over powered. I knew what I wanted and after passing on the Lotus Elise, I jumped on the 981 when it came out. It is the PERFECT sports car. It makes me feel alive with the top down, Bose off, rowing through the gears, carving up country roads and scaring cows with PSE blaring at 5000 rpm.
I'm not a 911 hater at all. I'm getting one. It's the Porsche Icon, it screams success and exclusivity. It's more functional than my 981. For me it's a very nice daily driving GT car, not a sports car anymore. That's why I am keeping my 981.....and the Toyota RAV for use as a mule.
Flame suit on.

Daily drive as long as there is no snow or ice on the ground. These cars are rock solid and made to enjoy. No reason to keep it in the garage.
My wife's x5 serves as the family transportation and I put a few thousand miles a year on my Jeep as it serves as my utility and snow beast

I also used to have an E90 M3, and the 991.2 is my daily driver (just hit 12k miles and almost exactly one year in on my lease). I drive it every day including snowy weather (with proper winter tires). I absolutely love it! I just SO enjoy the exhaust note, and it seems to leave all of the day's worries behind for the commute home. I missed the 4 doors on the E90 at first, but now I'm used to it. It will serve you well doing whatever you ask of it. Good luck!

Daily for sure. I drove these to work, every day:
944 (Dallas)
964 C4 (Anchorage, including winter, then Houston)
987 Boxster S (Houston)
Minor confession: during my last 3 years in Houston I lived only a mile from my office, and switched to a bicycle--actually faster than driving.
And since then in mostly retired mode now, what is a daily driver? I get up (and out) when I feel like it, and the 991.2 is always willing.

To reply all recent posts, I'm getting car Sunday so I'll post pics. I'll join to keep the good feelings going. I question not daily driving it because it is a depreciating vehicle. The joy you receive from driving it vs the depreciation you get from 'piling on the miles' may not worth it. Some actuary or economist can do the math for us. I understand people who have a bumper to bumper 50+ miles each way commute. For those people I wish them automated cars sooner than later. I'm far from retirement but I wish to someday be a track junky, wife willing!
BTW, any rads out in NOLA this week for ARRS? Awesome conference, people need to look alive and enjoy time outside of conference? I wish more of my compadres came out. N'Awlens is a trippin city!

Daily drive mine to work, weekends it mostly sits in the driveway while I take the kids around in an SUV. Occasional weekend use just for fun or if I have only 1 other person with me.

I daily drive mine except for winter weekends when I use a junky suv to go up to Tahoe for skiing or snowboarding (depending on my mood). IMHO since it's a car that depreciates whether you drive it or not, it's dumb to lose money while it sits in the garage doing nothing.

GTS is a garage queen, got it at a good price but it needed some TLC and the mileage was 22K for a two year car ridiculous as it is, it is quite high most advertised are generally less than 7K per annum. When buying them people pay so much attention to mileage discounting high or even average mileage cars which worries me and to some extend stops me adding more miles to the car.

My 2014 C2S is a "most days" driver. Did not get it to sit in the garage, for while I love to look at it I love to drive it based on it's smiles for miles factor.

Move got a Subaru XV Crosstrek that will be traded in for a Tesla Model 3 when My preorder gets fulfilled but 911 when possible. Heck I'll try to stick my 7 yo in the back. We're both short so hopeful the 3 of us can get around.
