Default New 911 GTS Owner

Hi all, I just bought a 2015 Carerra GTS and wanted to introduce myself. I bought this car with just over 900miles, it is my first Porsche. I am thrilled with the car and have already installed a SmartTop and clear side markers. I have a CF Rear Spoiler on the way which will likely complete my planned Mods. The Car is pretty complete and even has k40 detection system built in.

I do have a couple of newbie questions so please bear with me if I am not asking in the right place...wondering what best product/method for keeping the satin black wheels clean. Also, I installed clear market lights but noticed after that there are 2 versions. I have the chrome bulb type but was curious if the LED would also work...plug and play?

Thanks - Steve

LED side markers are much better. No "egg yolk" effect.

Look into Armor All Outlast to keep your clean wheels cleaner for a longer period.

Congratulations. I too have a 2015 GTS and love the car. I use the same car wash solution on my wheels that I use on my car, just not the same bucket of course, or if I do, I have already washed the rest of the car.. I avoid any harsh cleaners. My car is a little over 2 years sold, and the wheels still look new, when clean of course.

The ones I got which came on a Porsche box with part numbers are elevated from the surface of the fender and bumper cover. I didn't know if that was typical or if perhaps the LED ones were flush. The original amber ones were flush.

I use Dr Beasley's sealant and cleaner for matte wheels. I also use Ammo wheel wash.
The sealant makes it very easy to clean and keeps the wheels cleaner for longer.

Although not a true matte finish, it works great on the satin finish wheels. I tried different wheel waxes, but they leave a residue on the satin finish.

Mine are also Porsche OE part numbers and are flush.

Here's a few articles worth reading. If u have a floor jack & torque wrench, I would remove wheels, buff them and then coat them with a wheel specific coating that would last 1-2 years. then weekly washes becomes simple stupid easy. Also go to youtube and search wheel care & mike phillips. He's the car care guru of guru's.

Probably a really silly question, Do I need any other special tools to remove the Center Lock wheels?

For the centerlocks you are going to need a big torque wrench and a substantial cheater. Not sure the NM requirement, but its pretty high when putting the wheels on. Should be in the owners manual. For the centerlocks on my TTS, it's 500 NM!

The answer is yes - you need a big torque wrench and breaker bar. Most CL owners have purchased this or something similar:

And here is an excellent vid on how to remove CLs:

Awesome..I just got the same car and waiting for delivery.

How was putting in the SmartTOP? I put one in my 997 and it was pretty easy just wondering you experience on the 991.

I believe it's 450 lb/ft for the GTS. Many of us, including myself, purchased this combo set:

By the way, nothing can prepare you for how gigantic this thing is in person!

Edit: Just saw the post above recommending the same.

How do you keep from scratching the finish of the center lock when the wrench goes around it?
