Default Running C2S wheels on C4S

Hi all, I'm having a hard time finding Carerra S wheels to fit my 991 C4S. Suncoast told me I can fit the C2S wheels on my C4S if I add a 15mm spacer.

I'm not opposed to do this however I'm not very familiar with running spacers on a 911.

Is anybody running spacers on a C4S to get the right offset / fitment?
Any performance issue?
I'm going from a 11.5" rim to 11" rim but sticking with the 305 rear tire size. I'm assuming it will still "look" stock / factory?

Anything else I should consider?

Not recommended. It may be possible, but so is putting a pink wrap on your car and dying your hair pink.

Porsche designed the 4S to have wider wheels and thus more contact patch with the pavement. You're going to lose performance, stick with Porsche's engineerings team's directions and use the stock wheel sizes.

What wheels are you struggling to find in 4S sizes? I have a 4S and haven't seen this challenge.

There is a problem here that Suncoast may have missed though. Using the specs for one of the C4S wheels that has an 11.5" width, the Sport Techno, the offset of that is 48. They haven't accounted for the fact that removing a half inch (almost 13mm) from the width of the wheel will cause a bigger offset reduction on the outside.. So that made me concerned that even with a 15 mm spacer you will end up with the outer edge of the wheel much further inset that you have now.

So I ran this through www.willtheyfit.com and got this result. Although a 15mm spacer will bump the inside edge out about the right amount. The outside edge will be much further inside than before, a whole 13mm! You would need a 28mm spacer to get the outer edges back out to where they belong and OEM inset, and many want to go further out than that. That is pretty danged fat spacer and I doubt few, if any, would recommend it. You might even strike the caliper with the spokes if you only used a 15mm offset.

Here are the stats without a spacer from that website.

FWIW, I had a 2002 996 Turbo X50 awhile ago. The $2300 optional wheel upgrade was to the 18" Sport Techno. This wheel was the same for narrow body (Carrera) and widebody (Turbo). From the factory it was delivered with 15mm (rear) and 8mm (front) spacers. So Porsche's engineers and the TUV, which certified this setup) thought they were a good solution up to 190+ mph.

Of course, I couldn't be content and switched to 30mm rear and 15mm front. Just right!.

Thanks guys for steering me straight. I'll take the extra time to find a set that fit without spacers.

Will the following fit a 2014 C4S with no spacers?

FRONT WHEELS: 20 X 8.5 INCHES OFFSET 51MM.
REAR WHEELS: 20 X 11 INCHES OFFSET 52MM

That is the common fitment for most C4S wheel types.

These are the exact size/offset for the C4s!

Thanks. I was checking these out however I'm not a fan of the gloss plus silver trim. Can I get these refinished / powdercoated to satin black?

Just be sure to use a powder coater that has proven experience in high performance wheels. Some general powder coating places may use temperatures or stripping techniques that aren't best/safest for our wheels and the speeds/forces they encounter. It's hard to find definitive numbers online about what the maximum safe oven temperatures are, but it seems clear that temps approaching or exceeding 400 degrees are bad. Its not a danger of melting the wheel, its a danger of changing the molecular structure and making them brittle.

There are powders especially made for wheels with lower curing temperatures and improved hardness to handle occasional rock dings and such. The general opinion on stripping wheels is to use a chemical bath and not blasting methods. If you can't find anyone in your area, you can ship them to someone who does for around $120 each way for the set of wheels (bundled in two well-boxed sets of two with UPS).

I'll see if I can shed some light on the wheels because we do get this question quite often. When we're discussing wheel offsets, spacers, tires, etc with customers we always recommend checking out 1010tires.com for their wheel offset calculator and consulting with a wheel & tire specialist because everyone has different tastes, suspension setups, and end goals in mind.

We do always recommend going with the factory spec wheels and using C2S wheels on a C2S and C4S wheels on a C4S. That's not to say it's impossible to run a wider wheel with a lower offset on a narrow body car or vice versa, but you'll never hear us recommend a wheel that's not meant for a specific car.

On the topic that was brought up for the retail pricing versus our current blowout prices, when you break up a wheel & tire package the price of an individual wheel increases significantly. Porsche has always done it this way. For instance, retail price for the black C4S wheels with new summer tires from the official Porsche Tequipment website is around $8,500. Keep in mind that includes NEW Porsche approved summer tires. In contrast, the retail price of ONE of those rear 991 C4S wheels (no tire) in black is over $3,300, so that's where the very high retail price comes from for the listing of just wheels on our website.

Feel free to give us a call at any time and we can give you our current pricing and availability, as well as retail pricing for any wheel you want.
