Interesting bit of reading tonight.

In looking at the workshop manual the HPFP has a gasket between it and the cylinder head where the HPFP connects to the camshaft and everything is under the cover shown in the OP pictures.

Hope the repair went well.

I thought our fuel pumps were in our fuel tanks? Can someone explain better. Thanks.

Direct Injection cars have two ful pumps. The one in the tank is a normal low pressure one. There is one attached to the engine, mechanically driven, that creates the high pressure.
