I think if your car is not in direct sunlight and pannels dont get supper hot, it wont get as bad.
But given im in Chicago and I still have this issue I cant imagine peope in southern states can do anything about that.
also based on what I saw with mine, I think its the glue as well as plastic frame warping upwards.

2 years I believe... But the panel takes about 3-4 years to get real bad. Well played ;-)

Mine are warped, but fortunately, they're not that bad. I do expect them to get worse with time, though.
Yeah this is the real problem... My seller is going to ask his upholstery/interior guy to see if he can get something permanent. Will keep updating what I find out on my end.
Also, if heat/sunlight is a real issue or contributing factor, double bad for me in the Houston, TX part of the world and this is going to be my DD...

My 2013 981s has leather interior and no separation. My neighbor’s 991.1 has standard interior and his separated pretty severely. He never noticed it (because he’s that way) and I didn’t point it out to him because I knew he was going to trade his car. His car was NEVER left in the sun nor did the interior ever get hot. Quite literally. He kept it as a garage queen and only drove it on short trips to get coffee, to grab groceries, etc. He worked from home, so the car never sat in an office parking lot. There is no way the separation that occurred in his car was in any way related to sun or heat. He traded it with < 7,000 miles.

I rented a 991 prior to my purchase to see how I liked PDK. It was standard interior and also had this problem of door panel separating. I have full leather on mine and have not experienced this problem.

May be a stupid question, but, I assume the 'standard leather' interior trim pieces couldn't be added instead? I mean say worse comes to worse and you could find a salvage/wrecked 991 with same trim, could you just swap that out?

There is the "standard" interior with partial leather seats. Next level is "leather seats", which adds more leather to the seats. Both have the plastic door panel subject to warp and separation.
The "leather interior" adds leather to the upper door trim and center door panel among other places. These do not seem prone to warping that anyone has acknowledged.

Does that mean the 2 tone leather interiors should not have this problem?

It's just a stupid design. Why have multiple panels, create a one piece upper panel. I was looking at my Audi one day and noticed it's one piece and this won't ever have the problem described here. My 911 driver side slightly has it. I showed my dealer last year and they told me to bring it back one day, to get it replaced. I haven't yet, but will this year. it's annoying, because you can hear the scrunchy noise it makes when you rest your elbow on it.

If it does annoy you, try to press for a replacement. PCNA denied my claim as my warping isn't "severe" enough.

This, unfortunately, is such a true statement. What’s the difference if it’s warping a little bit or more? It’s separating and will continue to do so. Each Porsche dealer seems to handle it differently. My dealer said that they would replace it, I’ve just been lazy about it, but will make time this spring to bring it.

I would check out many dealers. Call a few service managers if they are to far. Tell them you will send photos. They get paid for this so push it a bit. Politely.

I overlooked this thread and made a separate thread

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1182...4-991-1-a.html

tl;dr My 991.1's doors delaminated, Porsche "goodwill" offer was unsatisfactory, replacement door panels are the same as the failed originals (there are no new, improved door panels), I had pedrosgarage.com repair mine. Happy, once again, with my car, Not so much with Porsche.

Any chance you could enlighten the rest of us on what they did to repair yours? There are so many of us with this problem, and I think as these cars age, we'll see more and more that have this issue.
