Door panel top detaching ?
 

So that's new... Looks like this car is designed to fall apart 1 month after warranty ;-( That's now 3 things just post the golden warranty period...

Just pushing it back in doesn't seem to work, common issue or something new to the forum ?

So the foam separates from the plastic backing but the plastic backing itself is not all that tight in the door either. 2 issues then.... I'm glueing this for now with 3M carpet glue, see if it helps part 1, but I fear something needs replacing... The timing is spectacular, I admit... The dealer was nice enough to eat one under expired warranty, another partially under goodwill, I'm out of goodwill now... ;(

Next step some JBweld on the back end for the plastic clip that seems separated from the foam part... Disappointing...especially timing wise...

Finally found stuff searching via google instead of using this search ;-) Dealer said he'd submit a goodwill claim for me based on the picture above but that a new panel was really expensive... Like $2000 !
I will bitch a little now, humor me, and mention the original door panels and tops of my 1972 911 are still A-ok ;-(

Just had both sides replaced before warranty ran out. Common problem on early 991's.

I wish, bare bones - simplest ones possible... Yet I betcha they are $$$. Soft touch foam, you know ? If they cannot fix this, I will certainly remove them and try to MacGyver this myself (50-50 chance that I F#$% it up).... I'm quite used to removing Porsche door panel from 1957 to 2006, this cannot be too different ;-) Generallt ity's door handles that snap, window winders than jam, electrical switches that fail, water that gets in. This is new to me ! ****ty glue from early 991 panels, TSB and all, but out of warranty so....

I had both of my doors redone under warranty for this same issue on my 981 Cayman S. I sure hope it isn't an ongoing problem effecting 991.2's. No issues yet with mine, but it's still really new.

Good news: I stopped at the dealer instead of doing that email back and forth... Another service guy looked at it, took pictures and told me to sit for 15 minutes.. said if Porsche could not help they knew a local upholstery guy that could. OK.

He asked how many porsches I've owned over the years (quite a few), if I service at the dealer (I do on the modern ones, not on the 40y old ones obviously), etc... He input this into a decision tool and within 15 minutes came back with: Porsche will goodwill 87% of the parts, labor is on you...

$3400 for the job on both sides, cost to me, about $400... Am I happy and appreciative ? You betcha.. Since my panels are bare bones, they are in stock too, will do this week - leather ones take 2 months to get ! Once more, buying a stripper car pays off ;-)

My '14 C2S had the same issue on the driver's side. Luckily, it was replaced last year under warranty. Dealer said it was ~$2000+ just for the panel.

Your must be fancier than mine, leather or inserts ;-) Yes it's a smart move because they've won a customer for a future car and service for sure now... And it costs them NOTHING, they still make labor $ and Porsche pays the rest... Good business, but I appreciate it !

Wonder what the issue is with these door cars - bad batch? Hearing about too many bad ones and it makes me uncomfortable.

Yes. As far as I can tell, the soft touch rubber cover detaches from the backing, BUT the backing itself appears to be warping as well, so it's not just a simple reglue job (I tried with limite success).

Apparently it happened on earlty 991s but mine is a 2013 and as mentioned above some 2014s as well... So I'm not sure when / if they got a good panel...
