But seriously 5K at least for me has been a great oil change interval for years. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable going over 5K without performing some oil tests to see how much oil additives are left.

Manufacturers have pushed out oil change intervals as well as other maintenance intervals not for our benefit..... but for the benefit of saying how much less their maintenance is over a competitor.

Oil's cheap.... It makes me feel good to change it sooner then the book tells me to.... and I like to feel good.

You mean your Porsche does not tell you when it's time to change oil? My BMW does.

IIRC, the 987 was at 20k and the 981 back to 10k too. Maybe an agreement with the dealerships to get more money/service?

I totally get it and have no judgement at all. I can't talk because I don't follow all aspects of the manual either. I was at 6000 rpm and 160 mph 15 minutes out of Stuttgart with only 15 miles on the car. It makes me feel good to go fast.....and I like to feel good too.

In warranty vechicles always go to the dealer, even afterwards for most of my cars/trucks. I follow whatever the manual says for intervals, most of my cars/trucks tell me when its time to go in. But if shorter intervals make ya happy, then I'm happy for you.
