Default crackle-gargle backfires

Curious I have the sport package but seem to not really get that gargle sound on deceleration. It's a 991.2 4S Cabrio.

There will be less noise on decel when compared with the NA engine but there should still be noise present. I've heard it on a few videos. With that said you can check the vacuum line that opens the PSE valves in the rear. It may have come loose?

For optimal sound, remove turbos and insert 3.8 liter NA engine.

I guess the .2's have more torque and umph, and the .1's revel in the saucy sounds of the NA crackle-gargle

I have a .2 and the sounds on decel are obvious to me...and especially my wife who recently commented on it. She said it must be a guy thing. So I didn't tell her it came with an on/off button.

Oh so the vacuum line may have gotten loose ? Wouldn't it be dangling or a check engine light? I haven't tried it in sports mode? Would it sound more robust in sports mode?

i have a .2s the car is quiet in normal and sport plus modes, it's loudest in sport mode.

i had the 991.1, and to compare with the 991.2, both with PSE, IMO in sport mode the .2 is louder and deeper.

This has been discussed at some length in other threads and there's probably nothing wrong with your car - try Sport mode with PSE "on" as that's when you'll get the sound effects (even the manual says this). .dee's post above is exactly what I see in my 991.2 4S.

Unlike the 991.1 which is "noisiest" in Sport+ the 991.2 makes almost no gurgles in Sport+ - the result of things Porsche has done to reduce turbo lag in Sport+.

If a vacuum line has come loose, you'll have warning displays pop up.

Accelerate to about 5,500 RPM, lift throttle. Enjoy.
Just about any good aggressive downshift. Enjoy

Not sure if that is accurate on the exhaust. It's a basic silicon tube that runs from the valves to the center of the exhaust. I don't believe any sensors are tied to it.

The pops and crackles increase in volume when sport mode is engaged.
