Daytona 24hr results 2017
I don't know if many of you follow the big 24 hour races. For those that are interested the new Porsche RSR finished second in the GTLM class and a GT3 was first in GTD class. Fantastic achievement for those involved. Well done.

I watched a lot of this, and really enjoyed it. lots of drama in this one, especially towards the end. I'm new to paying attention to Motorsports (never really followed NASCAR or Formula 1). where can i go to get filled in on everything and follow it better? any specific forums out there for GTLE and GTD racing? I can't even for the life of me find out what TPNAEC stands for.

and your local PCA web site should have information about the Porsche Corrals at all the races events.

Watched the first 3 hours yesterday, live. Today watched the last two hours delayed to bypass all the commercials. Great last hour. Great finish.

The 919 is a LMP1 class car and they only compete in the WEC series.
I was impressed with the results of the new RSR for it's first endurance race and looking forward to how the rest of the season progresses.

Nice first outing for the RSR. Did they mount the engine sideways?
"The heart of the super sports car is the 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat engine with direct fuel injection. Shifted well forwards and installed in a rotated position for the first time, it improves the dynamic handling characteristics and increases the setup options offered by the vehicle".

Thanks for the post. For some reason this took me back to my first Daytona 24 in 1980. IIRC 935s from three different teams swept the podium. A 914/6 GTU car finished 5th overall and beat the GTO class winner. The thing I remember most though was the RX7s. Imagine a dentist drill at 140db. It wasn't quite that bad but I do know it hurt. Ear protection? We don't need no stinkin' ear protection. Ah, and you can drink a very large amount of beer in the infield over 24 hours when you are 22 years old.

Ditto! Some great racing all the way up until the end. I thought for sure Porsche was gonna overtake the Ford at the end in GTLM, but still an incredible performance for the new RSR. It's going to be an exciting season!
