Default Alcantara Steering Wheels is too slippery

Hello Folks:

I took delivery of my 991.2 C2 back in April and Its been great! Had a 991.1 and 2 Caymans prior. I spec'd this car with the Alcantara steering wheel after trying it out at the dealer. I thought is was going to add lots more grip, but after a few months I find it more slippery than leather and kind of regret it. Since its winter its probably worse with dry skin. I have tried it with driving gloves (Autodromo) but the leather palms don't add much grip. I did drive it with some fleece-like winter gloves and those felt great. Does anyone have anything to add or recommend? I thought maybe it would get more grippy as it aged but not so far.
Thanks!

You may want to look into swapping it out. Don't think there is much that can be done without ruining it.

I had alcantara steering wheel on my old car. I absolutely hated it.

Wow I love my alcantara wheel and wouldn't ever consider leather over it. Try some nice racing gloves from Sparco or puma, etc with suede palms .

Did it have better grip when new? Have you cleaned it, if so? You can find recommendations for Alcantara cleaner if you search.

I installed an Alcantara wheel a few months ago and love it. I don't drive the 911 much, so it still feels like new.

Probably swap it out. Too influential on the experience with the car not to love the wheel.

Not a fan at all. Leather would be my choice all day.

Thanks everyone! No I haven't done anything to it. I think the dry winter skin makes it feel more slippery for sure. In the summer months I didn't notice any issue. Love the look of it. I wonder if there is a thicker material that it can be re-wraped with? I'll look for better gloves.

Like Jennifer Aniston, I use Aveeno. My hands get trashed, because I'm always washing them. Not greasy and no fragrance.

That alcantara is like nails on a chalk board for me. Makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it.

Aveeno is handy for tattoos in cold dry skin weather too

IMO, had 2 cars with it, the deal with alcantara is that on a steering wheel it wears out pretty fast and then the wheel is slicker than a wet floor... and look terrible... it's cool - don't get me wrong I love it - but does not last forever... I had an older one on a ZHP BMW and I loved the look and feel initially, but after 5 years it was fugly and slippery as hell... Alcantara works well for seats though, and on the wheel if you use racing gloves, but wearing racing gloves on your daily drive and not looking like a dork would be hard ! a bit like the other thread with the guy showing off his watch, no ? ;-)

Skin (human) on skin (leather) works. Alcantara on alcantara gloves (or clothing) works well... but human skin on alcantara makes a mess quickly.

Now you guys have me 2nd guessing my decision to get an alcantara wrapped wheel. I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet, so im not sure where to go from here. I feel like my leather wheel is too skinny/slick (I have BIG hands)
