Default Any recommendation of extended warranty?

I am thinking about buying a 2013 991.1 S from a none-Porsche dealer, this is to replace my base 2013 991.1. I wonder what is the best way of getting an extended warranty? Purchase from the listing dealer or purchase it myself? What companys offer good warranty, and what would be a fair price? I would appreciate your input.

first call your local dealer and ask them about cpo. all states have different rules, you may be able to get it someway

I have heard good things about Fidelity, and maybe Zurich. The trick is to call around for prices.

I have no idea on pricing, but it is based on make/model, age, mileage, and then many plans have tiered levels of protection.

Personally, I went with a CPO'd C2S since the Porsche warranty is great, and will likely look for another CPO when it is time for another 911.

I don't think a Porsche dealer will CPO a car you bought from a non-Porsche dealer, but they probably sell you something like a Fidelity warranty.

Thanks! It would be nice to get it certified. Wondering should I talk with sales or service at a Porsche dealer about CPO?

Won't happen with a CPO. Only if they sell the car and if it qualifies.

Some Porsche dealers sell a branded extended warranty backed by Fidelity.

You could always take the $4,500 (est.) and self fund your own policy. Never have to worry about denied claims and deductable.

I went Zurich. Ran me around $3300 for 6 years and 70k miles. $100 deductible. Haven't had to use it yet but the local dealer says they are reputable and the local Zurich agent is a well reputed shop with a Porsche trained tech. That's for their highest level of coverage which includes stereo, Nav, etc but doesn't include consumables.

Not sure if it was worth it but knowing the cost of Porsche parts and labor it could easily pay for itself with a single repair. Knowing my luck I will have some consumable break like an engine mount or a PASM shock and it will cost me a fortune anyway lol.

Cheers,
NF

What year/model/mileage did you buy it at? Mine had 35k miles on the clock when I bought the car and every quote I got was like $7k for 3+ years.

Thanks for suggestions on fidelity and Zurich. I will look into it.

The 9111S I am looking at is a 2013 with less than 8000 miles on it, its factory warranty would ran out in a few months. While my current base 911 is a CPO and the extended warranty would not run out till 2019. This makes the decision to switch a bit tougher.

I am quite picky about color and options, this car has the essential options but nothing fancy like for instance leather interor that I wish to have, and it is in Agate Gray color which is nice but not my first pick. What I like about it is the low milage and price. As to condition, it looks nice in the picture but it is about 6 hours drive from me so I have not seen it in person.

My car is a 2012.5. Bought it with 10k miles in September of this year. Basically everything is covered except consumable items (defined as brake pads and discs, rubber suspension bushings, filters, spark plugs, shocks/struts, wheels/tires, paint, interior wear, etc.)

Cheers,
NF

I agree. At some point you need to self-insure. I've got a 991.1 myself and the CPO is running out, but any warranty is silly expensive . If you believe in the car, start looking for an indy mechanic that could do your work - and maybe find salvage parts - if something really bad happens.

Having said that, sometimes cash could be a tad tight - specially in these times - and you love the car and you can afford 4k, but not 15-20k if the worst happened and you love your car.
