Bit of a Porsche novice so looking for opinions please......

Currently have a 991 4GTS, only since Oct 2016 till March 17 whilst waiting for a new build C4s.

I am cancelling the C4s and changing to a GTS sapphire blue (april delivery)

I have never driven a 2GTS only my current 4GTS. To keep the costs close to my C4s build I was thinking of going 2GTS with rear steer, PDK plus other bits. Comes in the same as C4S build.

I hear and read that the 2GTS is a better drive? Don't really need the 4wd as only a weekend toy. Am I going to be disappointed with the 2GTS have already had a 4GTS. Just don't fancy an extra 4,000 pounds just for the 4wd if not needed?

Thoughts please?

I think with the price points being so close a 4GTS makes little sense to me. Why not get a Turbo? IMO, a 2GTS is the way to go...

Many get the GTS so they can have a 2WD wide body with manual transmission. Doesn't apply in your case. Many find the base 991.2 has plenty of power. Unless you really need the extra power, you may want to consider a base C4.

I currently have a 4GTS that I bought used in Sept. and would have been fine with a 2GTS had the right one come up at the time. With the linear power delivery and modest torque of the .1, traction is not an issue in the RWD version.

But I wonder whether the 4GTS makes more sense with the new powertrain given all the added torque. Seems that spinning the rear tires will be much easier now, and with the bigger turbos on the .2 GTS vs C2S, the power delivery may not be as linear or predictable.

You answered your own question. If you will not be using it in foul weather, why bother with the 4? You don't need it. The 2 is less expensive, lighter, lower complexity and maintenance cost, and faster. Now what would be the reason for wanting the 4? The only answer is the wide body rear, and that is only 0.85" per side. Hardly noticeable.

You guys who worry about the increased torque delivery should try driving something like a 500 ft lb, RWD M5. Now THAT is too much torque.

In the GTS, you've got wider tires and a rear mounted engine. No need to worry. The RWD version is perfectly fine.

The GTS4 is not wider than the GTS2, unless that is something new for the 991.2 GTS. That's always been one of the big advantages of the GTS, 997 and 991.1. You get the wider rear end, but without the all wheel drive.

I think I can help.

I had a targa 4S 991.1 and went to a manual 2 GTS.

The immediate thing I noticed was how much lighter and nimbler the car felt. Obviously some of that had to do with dropping the targa weight, but there was also the lighter and more direct steering feel of the front wheels. The car felt more connected to the road and I was able to 'feel' subtle bumps and undulations on the road. In comparison, the T4S felt less alive and more mechanical, more filtered. However, I will have to say it did feel more planted at times.

My suggestion: if you don't need the AWD in your region, which 90% of people don't in the continental US, go with the rear wheel car. I feel that it is more rewarding.

i thought gts 991 has same wide butt no matter 2wd or 4wd... gts model has wide butt period - am i wrong on this??

You are correct sir. Only difference between the two is the light strip that runs across the 4 whereas the rear-wheel drive has the extended grille.

The 4 also has better steering feel and a more balanced front end.

4GTS=if you plan on daily'ing it in bad weather (snow, rain)

otherwise, get 2GTS, more fun and cheaper
