Does anyone know which file types can be played through the Burmester system ? Does it play hi def formats or process DSD ?

Actually the USB port will take full size WAV files (16bit 44K), I use a 256GB USB stick, it carries quite a lot of music.

Tried but didn't work; anything 24bit, DSD, anything at 16bit beyond 44K (like 192K and 96k), and spinning HD (like 1 TB). For reference I have the Bose system.

Somewhere there is a thread where I documented all of this.

not sure about your tech questions but I have Burmester in an S550 and it is the best system I have ever heard, some of that due to the quietness of the car I am sure. I can hardly listen to the Bose system in the 911 it is so poor in comparison.

Per the online .2 manual, .flac is supported. Actually, does not show .wav as supported, but not surprised if it works.

Mercedes now offers two Burmester systems.

The usual $1000 upgrade to a Bose or a Harman Kardon has been replaced with a meh Burmester in 2015+ new Mercedes models.

You can still upgrade to a real Burmester for $5000-$7000.
