Default Help Picking out a 911

I am in the market for a 911 to be purchsed this spring, and am targeting roughly $100k to spend on the purchase, but am willing to go a little higher for the right car. This is a list of what I am targeting:

1.991 GTS
2. 991.2 Carrera S
3. 991 (15/16) Carrera S/4S

Die hard manual trans guy here, but set on the PDK this go round.

Any insight into what I should get would be appreciated. I really like the 3.0 Turbo engine in the 991.2, but the price of the 991.2 is a little higher than the 991. Prefer to buy certified pre-owned from Porsche if possible.

You probably won't find a 991.2 C2S for $100k, even CPO. Forget getting a GTS in that price range. Plenty of options for 991 C2S/C4S CPO -- I'd get either. All thing being equal, I'd personally prefer the C4S.

Why not a base Carrera 991.2?

I am willing to go a little higher for a 991.2 C2S, if I am dead set on the 3.0 Turbo. Up to $120K or so, but ideal is around $100k. How much better is the 3.0 Turbo over the NA 3.8? I would prefer the 3.0 Turbo honestly.

I have seen GTS for around $100 before. Here is one for $105:

I thought about a base 991.2 Carrera, but prefer the S models.

Yes, tons of options for a 991 S/4S.

I guess what I am looking for is the best bang for my buck around $100k?

always get a S , and you may as well start looking at the porsche cpo inventory if you want to buy a 17 car

Id disagree.

With the new 3.0 tt a 991.2 base car is great deal compared to the 991.2 S

Personally, Id go with a 991 GTS. If you really want a 991.2 then get a base. In a few years after the warranty is up a simple ecu reflash would give a car that's much faster than a 991.2 s

I'm with you on every point.

"Always get the S" is old school thinking with the new engines.

If you want new do consider the base 991.2, and if you go used check here:

The 3.8L flat 6 has a lot of fans. Most prefer the sound though the torque of the 3.0TT is nice.

Used will likely cause you to lose less to depreciation if that matters to you. A custom order is fun though. I went that route and having 'my' car exactly how I want it costs a large premium but delivers a better experience for me personally.

If you really like the idea of a TT engine you may also consider a used 991.1 TT as a stretch option.

Primary reason to get the GTS or C4 is the wider rear fenders because there's no discernible performance difference with the S. The GTS, IMHO, is too close in price to the GT3 to not just get a GT3.

$100K is frankly an awkward price to settle on -- a little high for the used 991.1S market, too low to buy new, and still too low for the 991.2S market. Go up or go down a little and you'll be in a happier place.

Agreed. S Model is all I would consider.

This was my reasoning with the 991.2 turbo engine, and why I would be willing to pay a little more for it. On top of the better fuel mileage and more power than the 3.8. Once the warranty is up, you can do an ecu flash and tune and gain some nice power. Maybe get an intake and exhaust system to go with the ecu tune. I really like the flexibility the turbo engine provides.

The 991 GTS and S/4S are the alternatives.
