Got screamed at this morning

Don't know about you, but as far as I'm concerned pedestrians have the right of way everywhere they walk. For example about ten years ago I saw a pedestrian walking across an expressway. I immediately put on my emergency flashers and slowed considerably, although pedestrians aren't supposed to be walking across expressways. I was later to find out that the pedestrian was highly intoxicated and arrested by the police.

I used to commute on bicycle in college. Every single incident and near-death experience I ever had was the fault of the car.
People see a bicycle on the road and it triggers their homicidal tendencies. I've had people literally try to kill me.

Perhaps you misread. He quoted a poster saying he hoped the Vette with the POS exhaust goes to the junkyard. That sounds rather insulting to me even if its not his Vette that has the "POS" exhaust.
He didn't overreact and was not too sensitive. Instead it is many Porsche owners on this board that are sensitive and overreact when anyone even implies a 911 is not the most fantastic car in the world.
Perhaps, posters here should just ease up and take what you can from this message board and realize there are great cars in the world other than a 911.

Btw, I have made many friends in the Porsche world and some are lifelong friends and really good people. Porsche and Corvette will always be my favorite cars. But, I tell you what, some of the Porsche crowd better wake up....Corvette is making serious cars for much better prices and are charging hard and they have some serious plans for the next few years. Take a look at their reviews and sales figures. The days of brushing them off because of oh so special leather ashtrays are over.
Do I still want to get another GT3 again? Yep, I sure do ! But, sometimes you have to draw the line when you are asked to buy a breaker bar to take off one wheel on a 150 grand car.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend

I think a great majority of RL posters are just good-ole car people. Look at some of the lists of ownship, or go the various garage threads and you will see lots of other makes that we all own and love. The new C7-Z06, for example, is one 'sick' car, I had a quick look, did not like the interior at all, but that of course is fully subjective on my part. However, its performance numbers are indeed BIG, (check out its Ring time) but I think my TTS is pretty much equal/a wee-bit better on that front, IMHO . Plus my fuse-box cover is in leather, with deviating stitching, as are my vent slats. But damm I must have missed the leather ashtray tick box, maybe I can still get one at SunCoast for a $1000
Keep it light folks.
My BIL is a big american muscle car guy, we have a good joking relationship about the various makes and models we both own. We always keep it on the friendly side, I love his retro-mod 69 GTO Cab, and his C6 chassis that has a custom 1962 vette fibreglass Cab body replica on it. He also does have a new C7, not the Z06, that we both would love to get on the same track at the same time. I told him I would give him a handycap, or I could drive the BS and we would call it even.
Back to this thread, drive nice in residential areas, have some fun on the open country roads, and have real fun at the track.
Cheers,
Keep it light folks.

Also you should see what they'll do not to stop or put a foot down (including running lights or whatever). I thought the point was to friggin' exercise, starting from a stop is very good exercise... I'm sorry your clickety shoes are hard to clip on the "non-pedals" (or whatever excuse)....

I am kinda with Greg on this one. I do share the road, and I do follow the rules. I also find bicyclers want it their way a lot. I do give them the 1m rule, or more whenever possible. If they have the right of way they get it, but they often do not yield the right of way to me, when I have it, I agree they switch over to the pedestrian mode when its suits them. In those cases I switch to my Motocycle defensive style and just assume they will fully ignore me, along with my right of way. I do not want to hurt anyone and I will do what it takes to do so. I may swear a bit and make rude hand gestures, but I will not cause an accident. I live just outside of the city of Calgary, on some nice small hilly twisty country roads. My biggest complaint is the weekend and summer evening 'pack riders'. Typically young men all wearing brighly colored tight spandex outfits, I call them the 'Wannabe Lance's', Single file is a joke, 2 - 3 wide is the norm. To tell you the truth they look kinda like a gay pride parade on Bicycles. My wife and I also still ride Bicycles, have for over half a century, I even did it to work for a couple of years. Maybe from my Motorcycle time, I bicycled very-very defensively, followed the rules and I gotta admit no one has tried to kill me. I have had more close calls on my Motorcycles, for what its worth, but I think that is more a factor of the higher speeds on a Motorcycle, things happen a lot quicker at 100 kph than at 15 kph.
So I also agree with Lots Of Blame To Go Around.
Everyone try and stay safe.

Every one of the involved cyclists/walkers were injured, being very hostile at the driver, and blaming the driver for the incident. And in every case, the cyclist/walker was at fault and was fined. It's funny how pedestrians think they have the right of way everywhere they walk, and it's hilarious watching them get popped for j-walking when there is a cross walk two car lengths away. Know the law and follow the law, traffic moves much better that way

As with any group, it's the bad eggs that give the group a reputation. Porsche drivers, Corvette drivers... and cyclists.
As a cyclist, I get really annoyed when cyclists just do whatever, rather than following the rules of the road. And then whine about how they have every right to the road, just like cars. OK, sure... I've rolled stop signs, but who here is going to say they haven't and don't do that in their cars? But I don't ride on sidewalks, use crosswalks or fail to yield the right of way when it belongs to someone else. Yes, we're out there. You don't see us, because we don't stand out. It's the folks who don't follow the rules who stand out and give us a bad name, so as has been said about 'Vettes and Porsche drivers in this thread: don't judge all cyclists by the jerks you run into out there!

Personally, I would follow the rules of the road, as if I was any other motorized vehicle. Stop at stoplights, mind my lane, signal turns. Accordingly, a cyclist should be entitled to the same courtesy in return. It's not that complicated. A lot of people think that bikes belong on the sidewalk (which is both illegal and stupid) and get the red mist when they see a cyclist on "their" road.
I got tired of the BS and gave up road cycling. I stick to mountain biking nowadays. Much more peaceful.

Sorry, I didn't mean it was fair game to run down pedestrians - of course I stop when I see them.

1st gear @ 25mph + PSE = 70mph..

A Prius can go 70 mph??
(Actually, that's completely tongue in cheek. I see Prius' raging as fast as their chipmunks can propel them around here. Wonder what that does to their mileage with that tiny engine pushing those things at 80+?)
