911 base is a great car. There is one thing about it that's terrible, though, on 991.1 base; those exhaust tips! If ever a car screamed to lose the Lexus LS460 tips and get real round sportscar tips, it's a base 911!
A dozen years ago I bought my only Boxster, and she was a beauty: 2004 S 550 Spyder. But for some reason it had the stupidest tips, and I've been scarred for life against weird, unnatural tip shapes. Had to rip that exhaust right out of there.

Base 2016. I leased it as an experiment. I've decided I pretty much hate the MT7 and I'm not a fan of black. If this car had PDK (or a MT6) and was white I'd buy it at the end of the lease.

My .2 Base is great! - I DD mine and I absolutely love it. I took it to Sebring as well and it more than met my expectations.

To me there is no such thing as a base Carrera. It's a DD capable sports car that has many options. Some of those options happen to be different engines.
Whether it's a C2 or a Turbo S and everything in between, it's a 911 and everything that a 911 stands for.

After driving 991.2 C2, C2S and 4S the base really appeals to me. I felt that was little to no difference between the C2 and the C2S (open road driving) and the twin turbo seem to help there.
For those with the base with the sport chrono package do you use that a lot ? All the cars I tested had it but I see quite a few cars in stock without it. I think I can do without the sport exhaust (a nice to have though) but so far I am putting sport Chrono as a "must have". So I am curious to hear from owners with and without it on a 991.2 base and their thoughts on that dilemma !

LionelB - No need for sport chrono. I have a 4s PDK and wish it didn't have the sport chrono. It ruins the dash and I never use it. To me, its a marketing gimmick. Launch control, never used it. Sport plus, why?, its a cab and never going to the track. In fact, the only time it will ever be used is when I'm showing it to someone and they want to play with the buttons. Since I bought used, I didn't have a choice, but I would much rather have had full leather and skipped the sport chrono.
With a stick, you could argue it gives rev matching. But that sort of defeats the idea of driver involvement and control.
Just my opinion. For those who have sport chrono and like it, rock on.
