Should I get new tires?
Hi guys and happy holidays. Looking for opinions. I have approximately 21000 miles on my Perrelli P 0s that came on my 2012.5 991. According to the measurements they have some life left them. Fronts have about 5/32, and the rears about 4/32. despite this I feel like they just don't handle like they did a few years back. Like maybe they are harder and not as sticky? I can really see a difference when I go into turns. Of course sometimes it is cold out and that might explain the issue. I will definitely go with the MPSS when I get new tires. Should I do it now or wait?

If you can feel the difference, then the time is now. Get new tires!

As you said, it's cold so you'd be crazy to push it hard. With 4/32" left, you should be careful in the rain. Not much left to stop hydroplaning. If you're good with the restrictions, I'd wait. I just replaced my rears with the same amount of tread left, but I'm heading to Fl with it next month and didn't want to chance it. (I'm running MPSS)

much do you value your safety and that of your car.
MPSS if you can find them, or try the new N1 PZero's ...

21,000 and you're still on the original tires?
21,000 and your rears only have 1/32 less tread than your fronts?
All I can say is that if I was going to buy a used 991, I'd want to buy yours.
[For reference my rears were toast at 7800.]

21,000 miles is great tread wear. Get new MPSS. 305s will be hard to find. 295s not as hard. Wait till you see how quiet new tires are. And how much ride quality has diminshed in those 21K miles. At 21,000 miles on my rear tires, the rear inner tread was nearly corded. Stick your cell phone under there and snap a picture.

As others have posted, replace the tires and have an alignment done by a Porsche dealer with a good rep. Your reward will be that your car will drive the way it did when it was new.
I have no idea how you got 21K miles on your tires. 15K is the absolute best I can do for the rears.

Thanks to everyone for the opinions. Ok. I guess the consensus is new tires. I ordered them from costco and they had really good prices. Better then tire rack and discount tires. Being mounted next week late I guess.

Definitely a good move ... I replaced mine at 10k miles and I baby my car but after 4 yrs it was time ... I just put the winter wheels/tires on the 991 and that always make the car feel better in the cold temps ...
My R8 has summer tires on it year round which are only a few thousand miles old and the other day I was driving in 39 degree weather ... all I can say is I was careful driving around the curves ... those summer tires in low temps feel hard like rocks and very squirrelly (is that even a word ?!?).

Ok so I did look and the inside of the rear tires are pretty worn, but I did not see the cords. Still I guess time for some new rubber. I only put 3000 to 4000 miles on a year so I hope these will last and not deteriorate just with time.
