Default Sport Chrono Manual

Hi folks - new here.

Looking to buy a 2013 to 2016 911 991 series. Definately a 2S or 4S.

Has to be manual. Love to shift.

What does the Sport Chrono feature get you in the manual. I know it gives you the sport plus button but does that just firm up the suspension?

Does it give you the down shft rev matching or is that also done in just the sport mode?

Thanks.

I have a 2014 991 C4S without Sport Chrono and the sport button doesn't have rev matched downshifts so you would get rev matching with sport plus.

It also give you additional info on the multifunction display and dynamic engine mounts.

The manual in the car is great!

As far as the manual goes, Sport Plus will give you automatic rev matching on downshifts. Sport will not.

Sport and Sport plus will active PASM's stiffer setting, but you can hit the PASM button to dial that back if you are on a bumpy road.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the information

I took the Porsche Drivers School at Barbers several months ago and we had all new 2017 cars. On the 2017 the manual Carrera S cars rev matched in both the sport and sport plus mode. Porsche imanual for the 2017 shows this as well. Guess this is a new feature.

I really like the feature on the track so guess I will have to look for a 991 with Sport Chrono.

The car shifted very well and I'm an old dinosaur that just likes to shift.

Thanks again.

Not that I want it but curious why my 2012 c2s with sports chrono does not have rev match.. was it it introduced in later 2012 or 2013?

My 2013 doesnt do it either. I believe it was introduced in 2014+. People seem to not like the auto rev match but I think it would be kinda cool to have...

It was added late 2013, my MY2013 C2S manual has the auto rev match.

I believe this change occurred late 2011 early 2012 build dates. I want to say my car is a Jan 2012 build date as a 2013 model year.

You can turn off the auto rev downshift in the manual 991.1 by turning off traction control. This, of course, turns off the traction control and will allow you to get far more off the drive line before it will still kick in...beware.

Yes, in my 2014 C2S I get rev matching just in Sport plus and it is great. Also gives you:
  • Dynamic Transmission Mounts: With Sport Chrono, vibrations and oscillations within the drivetrain are minimized.
  • Dash-mounted stopwatch and PCM upgrades like a performance display.
Love Sport Chrono !!!!

For the early builds that don’t have rev-matching, does anyone know if there is a software update that enables this?

Being fairly new to the 991.2 "Club", a mere month, I too thought I wanted to shift manually, that is, until I drove a 991.2 PDK with Sport Chrono in the Sport + mode. It is outrageous. I assuaged my guilt knowing that the 991.2 automatic, and the manual are based on the PDK dual clutch transmission. If you fave the need to shift, the steering wheel paddles are there. But bottom line, just get a 991.2, or maybe even a 992...a little pricy now.For me, the best 991 of all, is the 991.1 GTS....hard to find one, and also a little pricy.
