why does that sound like the same experience as a 1986 930 turbo?

The .2 finally gets more midrange but my Audi pulls way stronger with less effort. Now would I trade my 991.1 for a 991.2 right now if I could do it without the big $$ hit...yup without a second thought...it is much better feeling than the .1 that it would eliminate the things I do not like about my .1. Then go drive an RS7 and rethink it all...still regretting trading it in. That's an amazing power train.
Fair enough. I agree, there is nothing like the NA R8 V10 engine - I own the manual version so I can't speak on the R-Tronic transmission. I do own a RS 5 and the dual clutch is fantastic on that car! I would absolutely love to own a RS-7 at some point. Since this is a Porsche forum, I'll circle back and just say from my personal experiences on half a dozen test drives, the 991.2 is just a all around amazing car.

I think that every generation gets better. The 997 has less lag than the 996. The 991 has less lag than the 997.

I'm guessing it's not quite as dramatic as it is on the 930 (I've never driven a 930), but it's certainly there.

Looks like we have a very similar thread of cars. Love the RS5. I honestly should have let my C2S go and take it back over rather than trade mine for the Q but it did eat too much gas for my 70 mile each way commute I do for work 4 times a week that I bought the Porsche for. Trade in on the car was fantastic though. I had it 3 years and traded it for about 10K less than I paid for it. Great car. Sounds like I need to go drive the .2 more but it will lead to another financial hit I shouldn't do. I know its better than my .1 enough in the engine response from the 45 minutes I blew with one at a test drive at Amelia Island last year but I just need to run my car into the ground with my commute and deal with it.

Don't bother with a tiptronic. Test drive one so you can compare against the PDK. If you want seat of your pants power do yourself a favor a test drive a 991.1 Turbo or Turbo S.

since you are in HK are you sure it was a genuine porsche you were testing? it sounds like you drove a Chinese copy.

The more I drive a 991.2 S the more I love my 991.1 GTS.

FYI The RS7 does not use a dual clutch transmission but rather a torque converter ZF 8-speed. The DSG is only available in the S7. Guess RS7 makes too much torque for it.

Some would say the S7 makes too much torque for it too...

I was disappointed. Car lack low end torque, auto mode was busy doing lotta shifting to gain speed and it made a lot of rough noises not back up by serious oomph. There was some lag off the stop light

I suppose it depends upon what you have become accustomed to. I'm not a fan of turbos, but it's not because of lack of performance. A 991.2S with PDK can get to 60 MPH in 3.7 secs. Granted that there are faster cars, but I would hardly classify a 3.7 sec car as lacking "oomph."

Depends what kind of driving you do. For mountain road carving, 350 hp is more than enough. For commuting to work on the major interstate, which is probably 99.9% of Porsche trips, 600 hp is insufficient.

I find the more power you need, the more boring the drive.

Getting into danger will humble the most affluent driver. Until that moment comes everything seems slow.
