is this a function of re-allocating capacity from other models to macan?

imagine porsche has fixed production capacity. if demand surging for one model...makes sense to pull back from other(s).

therefore, not sure what true 911 demand is. could be just the macan demand skewing other models.

Judd

Of course, there is some small cannibalization. I've even read it on the Macan boards, etc.

Definitely nothing more than 1-2%

The 10% drop is something much more than that.

Macans have their own factory in Leipzig. Along with Cayenne and Panamera.

911's are made at the Stuttgart plant. Separate plants and production lines. I believe 718's are back in Stuttgart too though I believe?? Or soon to be? I forget.

Are there GT3 and GT3RS sales in 2015 that aren't carried over to 2016? And when in the year did the full range of 991.2's hit the market? I imagine early 2016 was slower, as folks didn't want to get the last of the .1s, but the model they wanted in the .2s wasn't released yet... Either way, interesting figures..

I ran into a lot of P-guys and many don't buy first model year. Maybe that's why?

Let's not go too deep off the political spectrum. Never ends well here .....

Now back to the sales.

How about the new 4cy Macans? They're flooding dealers with them. Lower price point. Seeing many Macan's around?

New Panamera?? Will it revive the dinosaur?

718. Will enthusiasts bite on the four banger?

Drove a new 718 at a test drive event.
Heart was saying: "this thing moves and rumbles, granted noticeably less than your 3.8L flat 6."
Mind: "why the hell would you pay $70 for a 4-banger?" I'd head over to the HFS thread with that money.

The new Panamera sure looks interesting. For families that need a large sedan, it's a tempting proposition! We have a Bavarian Pontiac Aztec after all! (5GT)

I hope people bite and the new models keep the 911 R&D dough flowing in, call me selfish..

Well said.
Preservation and growth always trump core values.
In that exact order.

I could use a large sedan, but not a large sedan that holds but 4 people. I'll cling to my 6MT 550i well beyond its best-if-used-by date. Otherwise, new Pana looks great.

I really wish the Panamera held five...I have three kids lol and would rather have a Panamera than a Macan or Cayenne...
