I have one on order, so I can't answer any of your questions yet. The first thing would be to check with your dealer to see if you can get a Targa allocation. Brett Payne from Sonnen had posted a while back that there were 3 Targa 4s and 31 Targa 4Ss allocated to the US right now (if you're in the US).
As far as the top mechanism, I worried a bit as well, but there is a four year warranty on the car and I haven't noticed any bitter complaints here. The biggest drawback (to me) is the car has to be stopped to put the top up or down.
A red top is a personal choice but might not be the best for resale to the masses.

As said, I paid a visit to my dealer this morning and checked Targa availability here in Switzerland. From what he said this dealer has an allocation for January, therefore delivery around February. This car can still be configured as per the customer wishes.
As I do not need the car before May 2017 (travelling abroad) he confirmed that there will be no issue at all to get a Targa by that time.

Negociations are still going on.... patience is a golden rule in this kind of transaction, especially as we are moving towards end of the year. Was told if I would take a new car they have in stock, price would be very attractive. May be should pay a visit on December 30th

Funny, so many people love the rims, but I'm not a fan.
But that dark blue color? God, that's fantastic!
More so because it's so hard to accurately capture in a picture!

Thanks! I love DBM. I have a problem with blues..my GT3 is maritime and very hard to capture in a picture!
