Default Door Rattles

Hi folks,

Spent the last hour researching rattles around the doors and I see there are quite a few culprits. I'm having a buzzing/rubbing sound when I go over bumps or rough pavement; it's on both sides of the car and sounds like it's coming from the window or window seal.

Not sure if this sound is that of the seatbelt retractors, the door panel, or just the window rubbing against its seal. Would love some help in fixing it if anyone has ideas. Lubricate window seals? Seatbelt retractor? Take door panel off?

Thanks,
NF.

I believe I have a similar issue. I think it could be either 1. the window rubbing up against the top portion of the window seal - almost as if the window not closing tightly enough or 2. the roof lining between the sunroof and door. If I push up against the roof in this area when going over the road deficits that trigger the noise it seems to go away. My last 991 I filled the void between the roof and lining by sticking a rigid paper in there and that seemed to do the trick. This time I think a nice thick piece of felt, but I may get dealer to do it.

Different suggestion here. Install an aftermarket tuned exhaust and you won't hear any rattles, squeaks or buzzes.

Or turn up the volume on the stereo.

I had a rattle in the door too. I took the inside panel off (see Plenum's guide) and found one of the rubber covers for a hook mount was out of place. Just reseated it and voila, rattle was gone. Maybe not your issue.

After driving round more it seems to be the driver's side A-pillar that's rattling. If pressure is applied to it the rattle resolves. Tempted to take it apart and put some felt in...anyone done that?

Thanks
