for a daily GT car, while I spec the 18 ways, I actually have a thing for the 14 ways. They are simpler and remind me of my former 996 turbo seats. Something about them just works for me. The 18 ways are probably the best overall seat however in the sense of how you feel like you're in them vs on them with the 14s and Ill back that statement up.

Good point. The 14 ways have a classic 911 look to them.

I stressed out a little on this decision. The 18 ways have that hugging bolster feel to them, but the 14 ways are so easy to get in and out of the car. Plus they felt more natural than the 18 ways for me. My car is essentially a daily driver and I'm really happy I went with them.

I specced 18 way seats for mine. Once I sat in 4 , 18 and 14 way, the choice was crystal clear. For may shape and size the 18 ways were absolutely perfect. The best seat I ever sat in in any car.

But, and that's a big one, nobody can tell another person what is right. For me the 18s are perfect, my wife agreed for her comfort as well. And because we'll be swapping quite a bit we got the 18s instead of the 4 way so we can easily program a position for each of us. Plus more adjustment options are nice.

It's also a question that is much, much easier to answer than for example 4WD vs. 2WD, S vs. non-S and so on. Normally it should become clear immediately when you try both. The difference is pronounced enough that a short test at the dealer should solve the mystery within minutes.

October 2016: June 2017: Interesting change of preference. Can you share what caused you to shift so dramatically on this?

I had 14s for 2 years (vented full leather) and have now had 18s (alcantara) for about a week and a half. Definitely easier to get in/out of the 14s, but part of that is the ease of sliding across leather PLUS the way the 14s slide back to accommodate you getting out of the car, and then slide back up to the wheel when you turn the ignition. And I think that was actually a separate option, iirc, and not an integral part of 14-way seats.

If I was using this as a business car (picking up clients) I'd surely get the 14s in leather. But I sure am enjoying the grippiness of the 18s in Alcantara. Tough call overall.

My TT has "comfort entry" in the preferences and my 18-ways are set up to slide back on the key removal. They're a light chore to get in and out of but I have developed a way, and really they're only mildly worse than my last car for entry/exit (S4).

Can anyone tell me which seats (and how many ways) these are? And whichever they are, if they sit higher thus offer less headroom (for very tall drivers) than the standard 4 ways (which I've been informed sit lower on the rails than the 18 ways do, thanks to less mechanics requiring less space)? Trying to maximize headroom and every little bit counts.

^ those are 14 way. Don't know the answers to your other questions.

They are good seats, easy to get in and out of. 18 way obviously have more adjustments and arguable more comfy for some. I love the 18 way but hard for me to get in and out of with a tight back.

If anyone is able to share whether they know if the 14 ways sit any higher than the 4 ways (thus offering less headroom) that would be greatly appreciated!

I'm 6'1" so height is an ergonomic consideration but rarely a deal maker/breaker. For me the 18 ways were by far the most comfortable simply because I can tilt the seat base so the front is up and the front portion of my legs is well supported. The 4 ways from my previous 911 are very similar in design but the 18 way adjustments allow me to effectively reshape the seat.

After putting a few thousand miles on each, the 14 ways started to feel very off for my body shape. They weren't uncomfortable, I just felt like I was sitting on them rather than in them, particularly in the way it held my torso. Didn't hate them and could definitely live with them, but I found that I liked the way I sank into the 18 ways better. And then I found that I liked the 4 way SS plus in my C2S even better. I honestly don't think any of them are bad seats.

Daily driver / light aggressive driving / tracking once a year = definitely 14 way. Very comfy and much easier in and out but still supportive

Tracking / racing - 18 way for sure. Comfy and hold you tight in a 1g turn but a pain to get in and out of if you use it to go to work and the grocery store.

I have 14-ways, 6'2", and have no issues. You can raise and lower the seat bottom.

Pain to get in/out? I guess that depends on the person. I don't find them much harder to get in or out than the 14 way seats. But I find them much more comfortable.

I am overweight and decrepit and the sport plus are fine for entry and egress (at least compared to my lotus). The only way I could see the 14/18 being an advantage for entry/egress is if the driver is short and has the seat all the way up and uses the function to move the seat back before exiting. Even so, a piece of tape on the manual rails for the preferred driving position would be sufficient to perform that function manually each time.
