MJG911 is spot on, if you can correct the paint your self you can do it for much cheaper.
Better yet, have a good detailer correct your paint then just buy the consumer Cquartz or Gtechniq and apply the coating yourself.
Id love to know what detailers pay for the non consumer products, I am sure the markup is crazy..

I have prepped, paint corrected, prepped for and applied Cquartz UK on my 15 C4GTS, BMW X5d, and BMW 528xi. I am very pleased with the gloss, protection, and ease of cleaning with Cquartz. I do top up the gloss/water shedding with a treatment of CarPro Eraser and Reload every couple of months.

I agree with you. In my response, I was limiting the scope of my answer to stuff like protection from stone chips & etc., as I was in a rush to type out an answer. Thanks for making your info more thorough.

I have done CQuartZ Finest on a previous car.

Per what an earlier poster wrote, you still will want to redo it every 12-18 months because the finish will get mild scratches.

Given this I would recommend a mild paint correction and Optimum Glosscoat. Optimum Glosscoat is excellent. Better beading than CQuartZ, single application. I had my Turbo done with one stage paint correction and GlossCoat for $500. Much better than going for a $1200 job. They will look same and hold up the same, and Glosscoat performs better.

$1200 a job seems a waste to me
at that price, might as well xpel the entire car

had my front bumper, fenders, hood, mirror, wrapped in xpel ultimate
I've seen cars with cquartz finest applied, I invested in a detailing kit

Okay you guys, enough! Not only am I going crazy spending on go-fast parts thanks to Larry "Not Really The Cable Guy" Cable, I'm also getting sucked into the whole cleaning and protection syndrome in all these threads. This is becoming more like owning an expensive boat or airplane: you can easily spend more than the original purchase cost on all the stuff you want to do to it. This is not even a slippery slope; it's more like I bought the car and immediately stolled off a cliff. Not having landed yet, there is nothing to stop me, no reality check. Maybe I need another wife, having jettisoned the one I had for so long without trading up (or maybe down or sideways). That type of reality seems to be about the only one that can reel some of us in. That is, unless you have the wife model that simply lets you spend as long as she gets to do the same on her obsessions.

Okay, now that I've covered myself with a worthless disclaimer, what other ideas doe anyone have? I've now decided to do paint correction (myself, maybe, with my new Girot's Buffer?), have X-Pel applied to the sections of the car not already done, then one of the coatings over the X-Pel, or should I also do a coating after the paint correction, but under the X-Pel as well?

One last thing. There seems to be a ________Anonymous for just about every type of human affliction, but what about one for most of the people on the Rennlist Forums? Probably, on my death bed, I'll be pissed that I wanted to have whatever was the last thing I bought, installed so I could see if my 911 was just a little better. I just wish somehow I did not love doing this so much. Maybe more meditation on the issue of wanting material objects creating the desire for again more, without resulting in true happiness. There must be a DIY book for that at Amazon, or maybe a series of books where you can start at the novice level and work up to expert. I do know for a fact that you can pay for apps, to have on your iPhone or Android device, that will assist you in learning to meditate. This is an endless f......g loop.

I keep thinking about the Chinese economic "miracle," which may have been originally based on investment and ROW consumer spending; but just wait until the full load of Chinese people hit consumer warp speed. I'm also waiting until the ROC eliminates the taxes, tariffs, etc. on importing classic European cars before putting my old 356 coupe on the market. Remember, the Chinese drive on the "right" side of the road and they are not particularly fond of convertibles. Do you think that they will maybe have an impact on the classic Porsche market? Don't know for sure, because they also seem to like very large cars, like the really long Panamera. A little difficult to be driven around from the back seat of a 356 or 911.

Kwikit:
The Griot's BOSS orbital is really awesome. I got one last summer. For 500 bucks plus a few more for all the polishing compound and microfiber cloths, I am still at about half the price of what other people are reporting for paint correction and ceramic coating. You can probably rationalize Your cleanliness obsession with the knowledge that you can do it yourself for very little cost and very high index of satisfaction.

I posted elsewhere that I practiced on the family minivan. After 47,000 miles of pure neglect, a day with the boss after washing and Clay put it back to show room condition. I'm ready to work on my 991 . You will love it.

My car has a full XPEL wrap topped with Cquartz and it's amazing, i never want to spend time detailing my car again. Car cleans up great in a couple hours with a waterless wash and/or wipe down with Reload. No worries about swirls (black paint) or marring, just spray, wipe, and go.
While the XPEL cquartz combo has been great, it's not invincible. Bird bombs and water spots will still etch the coating and the wrap if not removed quickly and even if the protection is still there, I think some of the slickness fades without periodic Reload treatment.

Hi Penn4S - my friend had his F -Type R done along with his '89 Cab, it's tremendous but these coatings do take the right care to maximize their life. I'm in West Chester too and would encourage you to reach out to Nick Oakes http://www.oakesdetail.com. I personally think Modesta is a little better, Nick can do anyone you like and can explain the benefits, detriments of each.

Essentially, you're putting down the chemical equivalent of synthetic crystal and should expect 3 years out of it if cared for right.

The prep of the car for the costing is key. I used CarPro on my car (which is the prep for coatings) it has semi-permanent fillers but I haven't gone the full coating route as detailing the car for me is as much of an outlet as driving it.

I'm sure we've seen each other at C&C.

Good luck!!

Here's a live shot-down the shore with a layer of shore dust/sand, but CarPro Essence essentially gets you to the point of easy maintenance with putting say LSP Carnuba on occasionally, but nothing can match the visual impact of the coatings IMHO

Thanks BB. I too love the detail work and have accumulated several detailing tools and buckets of different products over time and I too find it gives me some quiet time I need occasionally.

I did already speak with Nick and he was really helpful. I liked him from the phone call and the guys from Cavallo speak highly of Oakes. I'm guess I'm really curious since I have heard so much about the coatings and figured I would get educated.

That is a great C&C we have every Saturday. I don't get there too often but the cars are great and the people too. See you there. Thanks for the info and the bump up on Oakes.

For those considering CQuartz Finest, I recommend looking into and researching Modesta. We use to be an authorized Finest installer but have moved to the Modesta line and have not looked back. Performance, durability and looks are unsurpassed!

Never heard of the Modesta product. Has anyone had it done and can speak to the long term attributes. I love when new products really work, I am interested to know more.
