I don't have a 911 - I have a 2016 Cayman GTS that I got this year - *but* a 911 does figure into the story. So does my wife, and it's kinda on topic in this thread so here goes...
I'd been talking to my wife for months about replacing my Audi S4 with something more fun. I wanted MT and I wanted AWD, but MT was a must-have, whereas AWD was a nice-to-have. One day, after browsing through various online listings of 911s, I saw a used 2013 model with low miles advertised at my local dealer. We were at the local Starbucks for coffee (yeah, I know, awful coffee) when I mentioned it to the wife (we'd explicitly gone out for a "coffee date"). Her response was - "It's a gorgeous day, we've got nothing better to do. You should go and look at it". So we did.
Arriving at the dealer, we were told that sadly it had already been sold. Now, I'd also been looking at the Cayman because I thought (and still do) that it was a gorgeous car. As it so happened, they had 2 - one was a Cayman S with minimal options, and one was a Cayman GTS loaded with options and MT. I took it for a test drive and loved it. Of course it was way over what I really wanted to pay given that it was new and loaded with options. I mentioned that to the wife and her response was "Honey, you work f**king hard all the time, you deserve it. If you want it, get it!"
So, we went out for coffee and came home with a new Porsche and all I have to do in return is take her to London for her 40th birthday.
I have the world's best wife.

My wonderful wife of 34 years is the reason we can afford to buy a 911. She has no interest in cars but was OK with me buying the car if it made me happy. I think she has a secret hope I will love the car and lose interest in motorcycles! The interesting part is now that we have the car she really loves it and thinks it is the coolest looking car she has ever seen although she still has not driven it. Good times all around.

My wife totally gets the Porsche thing and I am very grateful for her.
I had a 911 when we met and since then she's been supportive about 3 subsequent Porsches.
Thanks honey for being awesome.

My wife will let me get whatever Porsche I want with a couple of conditions.
1. Each purchase has to be European Delivery and;
2. She refuses to get in it unless PSE is on and the top is down.
It's a tough life.
What does your wife do when you come into a turn at 75mph? Mine snaps a picture of the road sign and smiles.

Without my wife's encouragement, I likely would never have made the leap to a P-car. Her family has had some really nice cars, so she has an appreciation for them.
