Love Guards Red! I was ready to compromise a bit on the color - white was a thought because of the old Martini 935s, but so glad i was able to get GR. My "fun" cars have always been red!
Guards Red was on my short list of desired colors, beloved by me since my early youthful years when I would drool over that Guards Red 911 with the monster whale tale back in the day. Just ended up finding a Black Targa with the specs I was looking for before finding a GR one. That said, I do have a Guards Red Sport Chrono gauge and Guards Red seatbelts.... does that count??!!??!!
I was like you and always had more understated colors (silver, black, dark blue) but found my car in GR and the deal was right and once I saw it in person, I knew that everything was going to be just fine. I love it now. It holds up to daily dirt and grime MUCH better than my last car (Jerez Black M3).
It took a bit to get over what I perceived as the high "in your face" nature of the color coming off of years of more subdued colors, but I would have a hard time doing something different, now.
PLUS, it is much easier to find my car in a parking lot now since most everyone else's car is a plain ol' boring color (at least where I live)!
I think red is pretty, but too flashy for me. But how on earth can you ask advice about whether YOU will be happy with a color? Next up: "Should I marry her?" ;-)
I bought my car based on finding a good deal and not color... Mine is GR and has quickly become my favorite color on the 991!
That is exactly how I ended up with my GR car, and I would have been kicking myself to this day, if I had passed on it just because of the color, which I have grown to love.
Does it look like this? Never owned a red Porsche after several black, grey and white ones. Pulled the trigger when I saw it in the showroom and my wife said "you have to get that car". So happy I went for it. Same year, same color same cup kit.
.
That's it! Has platinum S wheels though. Looks pretty darn good considering the grime from the last t-storm that blew through
GR is nice, but have you seen Carmine red? Could never go GR when that deep, rich carmine is available. Carmine is the color of the lips of the hottest French stripper you've ever seen. lol
Buddy of mine has a carmine Cayman GTS; you aren't kidding!
I agree, Carmine red is beautiful. My 991 GTS is lava orange and my Cayenne GTS is black. Kinda wished I had carmine red on the Cayenne even though I think black is a great color on the Cayenne (when clean:bang head
The only problem I have with Guards Red is that to my eyes, it looks orange in some lighting conditions. In the showroom, it usually appears to be a nice shade of red, but outside, it looks more orange than red to me.
I agree. Guards Red has too much orange in it for my liking.
