Guards Red opinions?
Hi everyone,
I found a good deal locally on a Guards Red C4S w/Aerokit Cup. It's a gorgeous car and priced well with the options I like. With that said, I have never been a huge "red" fan, and the car is pretty dirty, as we were just hit with a big thunderstorm yesterday. I can't really see what the car will look like when fully detailed at this point, and would rather the dealer not touch it at this point, their detail idiots will probably scratch the clearcoat.
Last car was a silver M3, FWIW; car was a bit bland.
What's the overall consensus on GR? If I detail the heck out of it, will it "pop" and live up expectations? Should I go Opti-Coat on the GR, or stick to normal waxing cycles after a good paint correction? How easy is GR to keep up? I have seen pics of cars on display that look amazing in GR, but in real life, they have always looked a bit flat, but I don't know if that is just due to lack of care by the owner, or it just being not a great color.

I have a Guards Red 997.2S & I think it hides dirt very well and looks good even if not fully detailed.
My question to you would be, is this a DD or a fun car? If the latter, don't compromise. If you're not 110% feeling it, keep looking. There are lots of fish in the sea. IMO color is a big thing to settle for. To me, color was more important than trim level, leather, Sports Chrono, and many other options that many buyers desire. I wanted GR over beige, and kept at it for over a year until I found my unicorn.
You don't want any buyers remorse while you're tearing around in what will be a fun car. Best of luck in the hunt...T

Guards red is sublime. It is one of my favorite iterations of red on a car.
I daily drove a red C63 coupe and I was not crazy about having such a "loud" car, but I also just did not like that shade of red. I was also pleasantly surprised that it never got much attention from cops or people.
I would have no hesitation getting a GR 991 and daily driving it. It would certainly not be a show stopper for me if a car was well specced, although I prefer subtlety.

GR sucks. You'll hate it. Now just tell me where this example is and I'll take one for the team so you're not tempted.
No seriously. Where is it!!!!!!

I've had six Porsches, 5 of which were Guards Red. (#2 was Speed Yellow.)
I love Guards Red and it's the only color I will ever drive. It still hasn't gotten old to me.
Speed Yellow I was sick of ~4 months in.
