Yes, I was referring to clean, new oil. I just put a little on my finger and run it over the o-ring.

Thanks. The 'hole' accesses a large unfinished portion of basement. That is where all the garage junk is stowed. Only things in garage are two cars and the cargo bike.

There is enough room to hop in the hole with the car backed on it. Kinda got the idea from jiffy lube and an old midwest cellar access door, but inside the garage.

The door is 50" Wide. The hard top to our jeep actually fits in the hole, through the door, and into the storage area. Pretty much the parameters for the design.

The oil change capabilities for the jeep and now the 911 are a happy accident.

Thanks again for posting your oil change tips.

Fastrr- the Bullitt is THE. BEST. BIKE. Fun. Have over 10,000miles on it. For our now three year old. Two hours a day on it at least.

Unless one knows the composition of the "O" ring material, it may be best to stay away from the Vasoline. It could actually degrade the ring, if rubber is a significant component.

Yes, Porsche says "fit a new O-ring and grease lightly with Klüber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68)"
Thanks for the replies, will just lubricate new o-ring with new oil.

They just pull out. They are only attached by plastic tabs in rubber sockets.

Remove cover 1st plastic tabs to fan housings...... then the fans pull out of their rubber socket mounts that are in the sheet metal.

Real easy to pull apart.

This video is pretty good. First thing the tech removes is the fan shroud. No explanation of what he's doing while he's doing it. Watch the entire vid.

Don't over complicate the process. There is no need to remove the fans from the housing. Simply lift up the two corners of the entire assembly from the bottom that is closest to your body. Then pull it towards you as angle it upward. Remove the two fan electrical connectors and that's it. The entire assemble, fans included can now be removed intact.

A good diy oil change thread here:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-diy/...il-change.html

Take care not to lose the rubber grommets when removing the fans & cover.

The rubber grommets have a life of their own. They will undoubtedly go south during the removal of the fan assembly but are easy to locate on the floor

In my case, there are two givens when attempting any mechanical repairs:

1) there will be blood at some point, and

2) any small dropped parts will roll as far as possible from the initial point of impact. No need to look directly beneath the car.
