I also have read the manual and the recommended maintenance but maybe the OP has a point. My question is how does a spark plug wear when not in use, same thing with the air filter. I can understand that the plugs could start to fuse in the block but simply loosening and re tightening would solve that.

I have seen new cars in stock for two years before they are sold. When would you change those plugs? How about collector cars that are rarely driven? Does it apply in that case? How about oil, does it deteriorate over time if the car is driven very little?

I am not looking for an argument here but it really makes you wonder who is right. Porsche may just be generalizing on maintenance or there may be a very real reason.
