I looked at you build order and it's a dealers dream order. You have ($70,000) in options. Maybe that is why it's getting built sooner.

FWIW, I ordered my Targa toward the end of April and it doesn't get built until middle of June and delivery in mid August.
You guys are lucky. I ordered my Targa in mid April as well but my build isn't till September with a mid November delivery.

Hmmm... my dealer said they do this all the time and it doesn't change the timeline. If a car hasn't locked, the spec can be changed... just like any allocation.

If you order a car, then go back and change the allocation (assuming nothing like PTS or LTS), does your production date get moved back? If not, why would it be any different for a dealer spec'd allocation, then?

According to Edmunds, Porsche does not use the holdback pricing model. Now, there has to be something there, because if it was $2500 over invoice (and, presumably, cost), and he threw in the clear bra, he didn't make much at all on that sale. Then again, for a repeat customer, maybe that's OK.

Specced and ordered 3/24 on a car that was already allocated to the dealer. Made a couple of small changes before the 4/8 lock date. Car arrives in Davisville on 5/20. Hoping to have it by the end of this month. Zane's timeline seems similar. Great car.

Gentlemen, thank you for your thoughtful feedback and comments.

skiahh...yes, he did not make much on the sale, I have been with them for more than 8 years. Great people, service, in North Olmsted, Ohio, for Porsche and Mercedes Benz. They want to keep me around, and I absolutely like the way they manage my expectations.

Small changes will not delay production if submitted prior to lock date. When there are wholesale changes to the previously spec'ed car by the dealer, production usually is delayed often by weeks.

This is one amazing build in my opinion. It is a stunning color combination with all class upgrades.... Just one question... Why do you need the rear footwell lighting? I'm not trying to be an ***... I have seen that in the configurator before and always wondered...

Please post pics when it arrives.... It will be amazing...!!

Congrats!!

Great build!
Will look great but at that price I would have wanted PTS.
Don't know of they can change a Dealer Allocation to PTS?
When I wanted a 991.1 Targa, Dealer wanted a big premium.
I have one previous purchase from them, 981B.
No go.
Waited for the 991.2 and asked for 7% discount, got 5%.
It was the principle.
Big difference in price also.
Can't wait to see this gem!-Richard

Holy smokes, I'm giddy for you! Tempting to drive up I-76 to see it... truly a no-compromises build. Good for you!

I don't know what the dealer specced, but I built my own car from top to bottom, so I'm sure it was much different than the what the dealer would have ordered. My point is that it isn't impossible to get an ordered car in about 2 months. That is, of course, unless the ship runs out of fuel and gets stuck in the middle of the Atlantic.

good sunday morning gents -

dealer did not spec a thing. I spec'd every single option. however, this targa was allocated to them in the jan/feb, timeframe. I did not pull the trigger until mid april. he knew all along i was going to go ahead and do this, it was just a matter of timing.

i appreciate all your thoughtful comments/feedback,

- Z

My car was a launch vehicle that I ordered Oct.26th and it arrived at my dealer April 1st. I suppose allocations for Canada were held back for official intro in March. The transit period was six weeks after build.

The OP was very lucky to make such mammoth changes and expected delivery within sixty days of ordering.
