I've been lusting over a 911 since I was 19.. took 10 years to buy one but mine at last!
There are faster cars out there, I cross shopped a 911 against a M4 / C63S / C7 Z06, hard to explain but the size of the car, and the feeling is just different than other cars out there.

I'm 6'1 ******** a girl 5'10 in the back of a 964 with the no real room I dislocated a disc in my back, went straight to hospital, met the most stunning doctor who worked on me, two months later married her, then got her to buy me porsche motorbike and new shoes, ever since then, I keep trading up in marriage and cars. This week I am marrying a 71 year old, who owns 4 home depots, and "we" are putting down on a new 918.

IT's funny how sometimes I think I know the answer to questions, but if I reflect more on my answer it changes. I started to type out two things that are actually true, but they are beside the point:

1. I've had a romantic relationship with Porsche since I was young, e.g. LINK.
2. Guards Red (I've gotten my fill and won't buy another GR, but man did I have tight trousers over that color)

I realize now that the real tipping point was ending my involvement with another engrossing hobby. I stopped doing one expensive thing and found both free time on the weekends, and more dollars at my disposal. Without that change, I would still be only a fan.

I worked in a German auto shop during the summer of 1974 when I was in high school. The cars were mostly VWs and a few Porsche 914s, but occasionally a 911 would come in. It was always an event, and I loved the 911s immediately. What really whetted my appetite, though, was when the owner of the garage told me to never drive one because I would kill myself. At 16-17 years old, that was all I needed to hear!

In younger years I had about a dozen different VW's that all wanted to be Porsches when they grew up.

A visit to Moore Motors of Philadelphia on North Broad Street...in 1967. Saw a dark green 911 for just over $6000 new!

I can't even imagine. Tragic story and sorry for your loss.

Have always been a car freak. 12 car magazines a month freak. I am a host of worthless car information. I love the Euro Car mags.

Started as a kid, loved the 935s and slant nosed Porsches. Got out of college with a good job and had an Audi A4 and S4 (can't believe I got that over an e36M3), then an early 2001 E46 M3 (yeah, they were great but I was #129 on the list of engines that lost a rod and my whole thing grenaded). So, I never really liked the 996s but the first time I saw a 997...... it was over. Got on the List and had a 2006 Carrera S. I spec'd it exactly how I wanted and it was perfect.

Then I got married..... and got an E63... and another E63 and then an F10 M5.... but I never forgot the Carrera S. I loved and missed it and after I got my wife a Panamera Turbo, she let me get a 911 GTS for me.

So here is her current PT and my GTS. Love em and were both happy. Probably why I married her is that she loves cars. She had a '94 Defender D90 when we met and she still drives it all the time.
